i think part of growing up is learning you will sometimes let people down, including yourself, and that it is human nature to be a little disappointing sometimes. sometimes you will bite off more than is chewable for you. sometimes it is kinder to let stuff go. This sucks btw

RIGHT yes. You described it perfectly. I found small talk "confusing" when I was younger until I realized it is just a way to show someone else that you care enough to discuss the weather for 30 seconds, not an actual information exchange, which we hardly ever need anyway.
