Also, i heavily heavily rec you check out Daltanious; it is not officially RR but it basically is in every sense of the definition.

Its basically a much better combattler v in the first half. The second half is solid but director change is felt.

Its the best one. I don't think it reaches the peak of the last third of Voltes, and i actually think Kazuya can get his ass kissed to an annoying degree. But besides Gundam, it has the best character of 70's Mecha in Richter, and a really good plot

When the Athena is broken, Kouji the one defending her right to fight, which is in contrast to earlier in the series, when he wasn't. So it does get way better. It's got issues there, but it does get better later in the series

The one thing i'd give 70's mazinger. Episode 8, which is one of the most sexist episodes in 70's mecha, its kinda awful. But then Sayaka gets a complete reboot as a character and she's great
