I went to Skutz Falls today to photograph the salmon spawn in the Cowichan River.

Took a gazillion photos. Will be thrilled if 9 of them are in focus.
These dudes DO NOT cooperate.

Thanks! It’s maybe my third or fourth time catching one in flight. I have a zillion images of eagles roosting, but I’ve had bad luck catching them flying. I was pretty stoked!

I was there for 9 hours last Thursday and saw no bears whatsoever. I went back on Friday morning at dawn, walked maybe 150 feet from the trailhead and — hey, look! — a bear!

Later, I drove back home to Saanich, and there was a big chubby bear on the road 2kms from my house.

For anyone who hasn’t seen it, the documentary Drew: The Man Behind The Poster is really good. Very sweet and heartwarming.

I don’t know if it’s on any other streaming platform, but there seems to be at least one copy of it on YouTube now.
