This game had an earlier start time so no bleary eyes, but I remember is so well. It was a workday and Gameday not a thing. Cab drivers in NYC parked their cars, opened their doors and blasted the radio broadcast so people en route to work meetings could listen for a bit: sabr.org/gamesproj/ga...

To be honest I think it's increasingly difficult for teams to go out on a limb the way they have even without the ownership change. But I have admired their willingness to be present for all members of our community.

In addition to the usual "good corporate citizen" giving, the Rays have always punched above their weight on more controversial issues, in particular support for LGBTQ+ community, support for racial justice and statements deploring gun violence. What will come next? www.draysbay.com/editorial-ta...
