It's bad enough when it's anonymous, but "I know McCabe is a very junior scholar ... But for Christ's sake, she's not even read Packe" remains a "favourite" of mine from reviewers.

I saw yet another post on Twitter today from a grad student who received a peer review rife with ad hominem attacks on the authors' competencies rather than constructively critiquing the work.
