Good night :)

Yeah religious identity is the top factor in voting preferences in 🇺🇸 and it’s been that way since white evangelicals launched their culture war in the 1990s. Race is second. So it’s hot topic
duchovnik.bsky.social
But definitely no matter what, if you elevate any portion of Republicans or especially white evangelicals, atheists will immediately judge you even if we are not anti-theists and don’t say anything to you about it. We hate their guts for a good reason.
duchovnik.bsky.social
Well. If you get on this app which is chock full of Americans, and then interact with atheists about the supposed moral superiority of believing in god, we will only double down on our atheism. When you see loud anti-theists on here, they are looking for a fight; block them instead of feeding them.

Saying they weren’t real Christians bc they didn’t go church weekly. it’s so gross
duchovnik.bsky.social
Christians here even tried to blame Trump on atheists by saying “oh he pulled in extra Christians who don’t go to church” while ignoring the clear evidence that weekly church attenders voted for him three times.
duchovnik.bsky.social
You claim to have a problem with MAGA but I promise you Christian moral supremacism is part of why they are the way they are.
duchovnik.bsky.social
Christian moral supremacism is a problem bc nearly all Christians think they are morally superior by sheer virtue of believing in Jesus.
duchovnik.bsky.social
But that’s how Christians create the association of atheism to immorality and create anti-atheist prejudice all by themselves without atheists even having to be there. It’s universal in Christendom.

We are innocent in that stuff

A lot of people in UK say they’re not religious but when you ask them about their beliefs, most are not atheists, and atheists really are different from other “not religious“ people in a variety of ways.
duchovnik.bsky.social
It’s especially wrong when atheists are not the ones causing a problem
duchovnik.bsky.social
No. That’s scapegoating atheists for things that Christians are doing. That’s wrong.
duchovnik.bsky.social
So it takes away from religious credibility enhancing displays, which has been shown to cause some disbelief
duchovnik.bsky.social
Yes even w/o forcing, just having religious leaders tied to politicians guarantees some degree of subtracting from the religion’s sacral nature. Politicians have to compromise by nature of their job. Everyone gets sick of the govt at different times so that translates to seeing religious hypocrisy
duchovnik.bsky.social
It’s something I have to keep explaining to the Christian nationalists here. Populations secularized faster where Christianity had more state support. They think they can get atheists to vanish if 🇺🇸 govt supported their Christianity
duchovnik.bsky.social
?? Only like 20% of UK is atheist. And the church is still established there, which is part of the reason UK population secularized faster than US
duchovnik.bsky.social
I didn’t say it for several years bc I was scared of people. But the actual atheism goes back to about 17.
duchovnik.bsky.social
Late teens to early 20s is when most people figure out what they’re going to be, and then it sticks for life. That’s the same timeframe I started saying I’m an atheist.
duchovnik.bsky.social
I also think humans are still constrained by natural patterns and fertility declining with population explosion, before abortion was made legal, is evidence of that.
duchovnik.bsky.social
I think atheism is a rejection of god claims, so to me no one is born atheist. Infants are just neutral innocents.
