Taking of from rough runways is probably what Ukraine needs most and not a plane that wins dogfights (have we heard of any in this war?) They simply need a plane that is cheap, available, reasonable and can lob glide bombs on Russians and help against shahed/cruise missiles.
Funny how any post regarding Gripen/Rafale/F-35 digresses into a dick swinging contest of which one is better (disclaimer: I am in no way knowledgeable enough in this area) Could it just be that Ukraine is not trying to shoot down any other plane, but looks for one that helps them defend ?
Recently saw a vid about an American small company producing bolts for aeronautics industry. It is wild what it needed to produce a humble bolt according to industry standards. Apparently very few companies that can actually do that.
Probably the engineers are fine and mostly can do the job if it is not something with advanced electronics. The tricky part probably comes when they need specific parts. If they start to try to manufacture parts themselves disaster will be around the corner.

Literaly nothing in Russia is not posted on internet. Amazing that after the secrecy of the Soviet Union they still are not able to put a stop to this. Ukraine does not need satellites for damage assesment , wait for the on-the-ground video to come out.
Earlier in the year Russians ran to sign up as they expected the war to end soon. They expected ti quickly cash in and possibly survive. We can expect the opposite effect now.
