✨ Hello, Bluesky!

👋 We’re #E4Warning, a Horizon Europe project focused on Eco-Epidemiological Intelligence for Early Warning and Response to Mosquito-Borne Disease Risk in Endemic and Emerging Settings.

🔔 Follow us for updates and key insights. Let’s connect! 🚀

🤝 We team up with #MosquitsEmpordà to monitor mosquito populations at Empordà Wetlands.

🎯 Our goal is to reconstruct how viruses might circulate by analyzing mosquito and bird species, helping to assess the potential risk of spread.

💧How can wetlands across Europe serve as sentinel sites in times of global change?

🥼Scientists from #E4Warning, #IDAlertproject, and #PDPD ( #ErasmusMC ) met at @ceabcsic.bsky.social to explore #WestNileVirus transmission in European wetlands.

🔝 Stay tuned for insights, coming soon!

🗣️ “We try to understand how a disease spreads, anticipate where and when an outbreak is likely, and give this info to public health services so they can act,” says @drrachellowe.bsky.social from @bsc-cns.bsky.social.

🔝 Don't miss the interview for the Catalan TV. ⬇️ www.3cat.cat/324/temporad...

🙏 We are pleased to be participating in the #Arbovirosis section at #EnfEmerg, presenting our work at #E4Warning, including preliminary results from our capture-recapture experiments.

🔝 A valuable opportunity to share knowledge and advances.

🔝 Today, Frederic Bartumeus, researcher at
@ceabcsic.bsky.social and our project coordinator, participates in the XV #EnfEmerg conference.

🧑‍🔬 He will present work on #E4Warning, addressing arboviral disease challenges through innovative eco-epidemiology in both endemic and emerging contexts.

🌾 Fieldwork has started at Empordà #Wetlands!

🦟 The @mosquitoalert.bsky.social team is out setting traps, deploying acoustic devices, and using aspirators to collect blood-fed female mosquitoes in order to study their diet and detect pathogen patterns.

🔜 Stay tunned for updates!

🌺 We wrapped up the day with a visit to the breathtaking botanical garden "Jardí Botànic Marimurtra".

🦟There, we explored the site's natural beauty and ongoing experiments within the #IDAlert project.
e4warning.bsky.social
💬 The afternoon was dedicated to brainstorming and evaluating data collection protocols and statistical methods used to study mosquito communities.

🤝 We also explored opportunities for collaboration and aligning the project’s scientific goals within the #OneHealth framework.
e4warning.bsky.social
🔬 Day 2 of our meeting!

🌾We returned to the Empordà #Wetlands, working with tools generously provided by Nathan Burkett-Cadena from Florida University.

🦟 These tools allow us to study how landscapes influence the circulation of #WestNileVirus by examining mosquito feeding patterns.

🔝 This week, researchers from European projects #E4Warning and #IDAlert come together at
@ceabcsic.bsky.social for a joint workshop and hands-on fieldwork, combining science, sensors, and collaboration. 🌍

🦟 Would you like to know what we are working on?
e4warning.bsky.social
🧠 Time is also dedicated to discussing the methodologies applied to enhance results. 📊
📢 The visit continues today, stay tuned for more updates from the field!

📍Yesterday, we explored the diverse landscapes of the Empordà #Wetlands region during our fieldwork, an ideal setting to study vector ecology and biodiversity in action. 🌿🧪
e4warning.bsky.social
🌾 We visited the Empordà #Wetlands, a key field site for both projects, to showcase the tools we use for mosquito community and vector movement studies.

🦟 These include BG traps, resting traps, Audiomoths, and acoustic sensors, combining tech and field ecology.
