And speaking of Apollo 13, my parents were living in Rome when that happened. They were in a local restaurant with a television on for the splash down. And when the voices came through, showing it was successful, the Italians started coming up and congratulating them. #HATM

I'm such a sucker for a story where you put a bunch of really smart people in a room (or in a room and in space), and they work to solve a seemingly unsolvable problem and save the day. Also, Apollo 13 – this is fictional but that wasn't! #HATM

There’s a house in my part of town with a flagpole flying US and German flags. They’ve turned their front yard into a kind of Schrebergarten – and are out there all the time. Makes me chuckle every time I drive by.
