For the USA I like "No Kings" but you have to admit that some of the strongest and most open democracies are also constitutional monarchies. Much admiration for the way the Dutch and the Swedish have made it work.

Does it take the joy out of it if we automate the process? Really loud noise, wait random period of time almost long enough to get to sleep, really loud noise. Let's not pretend we don't know this is a torture technique. It certainly is. The point is, they did it to a whole innocent neighbourhood.

They don't take away voting from *everyone* of course. :) Only certain people. Actually, it would be easier to identify the people who will retain voting rights.

Y'all on this thread seem to think that citizens in Russia, Hungary, and Belarus do not vote. Of course they do! The problem is that there are a million ways to make sure that certain people do not vote, that certain people do not run as candidates, that certain people's votes are lost.

Yes, that's also possible, but extremely disturbing since no one has charged him with anything. Is he on a terrorist no-fly list? No, they don't cancel your tickets if you are on the no-fly list, they just don't let you board. Perhaps we will find out today. Good luck and clear skies, Professor.

I came to make sure someone said this. You can't hear the breeze blowing or any other incidental noise. At the very least I think there are multiple microphones inside the drum kit to make the equalization possible. On the other hand, it does rock!

I'm concerned that maybe someone phoned the customer service desk of the airline, claimed to be him, and cancelled the tickets. I don't think I've ever cancelled a flight (for myself or someone else), but I've seen lots of examples of this sort of social engineering.

Yes! This couldn't have been easy for Finland because in this same timeframe they were moving heating energy from fossil fuels to electric (heat pumps) which makes this a double win. The work has to continue globally, because transportation, cargo, and other industries need electrification too!

It does seem like it would be good. But have we considered what is required for someone to prove they are over 15? No more online anonymity. No youthful protest organizers. It's a gigantic gift to police and police states. :(

The model here is Russia after they elected Vladimir Putin. Once you've elected a gangster, you can't expect he'll just try to beat you in a fair campaign. He's using every available mechanism and every federal agency to move the mid-term elections his way. If he loses, you won't hear it from him.
