One thing looks different this open enrollment season: health care premiums have skyrocketed. Affordable Care Act tax credits that lower costs for millions are in limbo while Republican leadership in Congress refuses to continue them. Everyone deserves access to health care, not a #HealthcareHeist.

American families are barely keeping up — groceries, rent, bills. And now Republicans have made it worse by slashing nearly $1.1 trillion from Medicaid and killing ACA credits that keep healthcare affordable. Join the fight to protect our care: economicsecurity.us/wp-content/u... #HealthcareHeist

🇺🇸 Right now, millions of Americans are in the same situation as Tiffany thanks to GOP healthcare cuts.

We’re in an affordability crisis, and the last thing we need are leaders who stick us with ANOTHER sky-high bill.

It's time for Republicans to fix the mess they created.
💸 Healthcare is already too expensive for families like Tiffany’s. Now, Republicans are more than DOUBLING her healthcare costs. Without ACA credits, Tiffany will have to pay $26,000 a year just to make sure her family can see a doctor.
💵 Tiffany is doing her best to make sure her family of four can get the care they need. She’s already paying too much money for her family’s health insurance: $12,000 a year! And that’s BEFORE all her out-of-pocket medical costs.

AFSCME member and health care worker Dawn Burfin warns rural Minnesotans will lose access to critical care if anti-worker extremists continue to stand in the way of lowering health care costs.

Tell Congress to lower health care costs: 1-888-981-9704 #HealthCareHeist
💸 Healthcare costs are already out of control. We need Congress to lower them, not raise them by taking away Affordable Care Act credits that help 22 million people afford coverage.

The GOP created this #HealthcareHeist, and they can end the shutdown now by fixing their mistake.
🩺 Janet from IL has a medical implant that costs her $580 a month - in addition her $900/mo insurance premiums and $350/mo supplemental insurance for her husband.

Without ACA tax credits, she can't afford that implant, but she definitely can't afford a $36,000 surgery to take it out either.

“I can barely afford insurance through the ACA marketplace even with the tax credits that the government put in place during the pandemic – it’s only with the help of my family that I’m getting all my bills paid. Now, I don’t know what’s going to happen and I’m scared.” - Chena Immel, South Portland

We held a press conference yesterday w/ advocates, legislators, & impacted residents to call out the Republican-led Medicaid cuts and expiration of ACA tax credits, both of which are driving up health care costs across PA. The shutdown isn’t about politics—it’s about our health care #ProtectOurCare
6/6 In the richest country in the world, no one should ever have to choose between feeding their kids or filling their prescriptions.
5/ 💸 In California’s 22nd District, marketplace premiums will double on average.
🏥 A 60-year-old couple in Bakersfield earning $80K a year could see their monthly premium jump by $1,500.
🏚️ Across the state, 29 rural hospitals are at risk of closing their doors.
4/ Now, when Central Valley residents try to renew their healthcare plans on November 1, they’ll be hit with massive premium hikes.
3/ President Trump and Republicans, including Rep. Valadao of CA CD 22, slashed over $1 trillion from Medicaid and let critical ACA tax credits expire — the very ones that help millions of working families afford coverage.
2/ Today in Bakersfield, healthcare workers, parents, and patients— joined by Economic Security California Action— gathered outside Rep. Valadao’s office to sound the alarm on a crisis that’s already here.
1/ “When the union nurses say it’s an emergency, we mean it. On Nov 1, while the government shuts down, 42M people — our patients, families, and friends — will lose food assistance…

Kids will go hungry. Seniors will choose between medicine and meals… That’s not politics — that’s cruelty.” 🧵

3/ When healthcare becomes a luxury instead of a right, young people are forced to choose between paying double or going without. It doesn’t have to be this way.
