Mtg's a moron. To use the nuclear option a previous rule change regarding the specific bill had to have been passed. Since a rule had passed re appointments, you can use the nuclear option in that case but to use it to pass a CR, you would need a new rule vote that the dems would filibuster
They cant use the nuclear option for anything outside of similar things, ie appointments. If they want to use it to pass the CR, they would need to file a new motion the dems would just filibuster bringing up back to square 1
The Republicans need to use the nuclear option then put the filibuster back right after the CR passes. I bet they're playing politics, want to make people squirm a but then come in last min and save the day.
You're right, they could vote today to make it 51 votes, then as soon as they pass the CR they could use the 51 votes to immediately put the filibuster back. This is bullshit political maneuvering by both sides.
Last I checked it was the Republicans trying to find ways to keep service members paid. It's the dems who keep shutting it down. The fact the dems wont pass a clean CR to gain leverage to have socialist additions to the budget is almost criminal

Why did the dems leave the border open if not to eventually gain voters? 1st get them here, 2nd eventually have them included in the census to gain seats, then grant immunity and citizenship. The whole thing was organized, there were dark money groups funding rest stops for the migrant caravans
