This is so great. Curious, do you also include in your fliers that use of food resources won’t go in medical records and won’t result in neglect reports? This tends to be the big barrier to so many of my clients using resources connected to mandated reporters.

I’ve started taking the opposite approach. When people try to shirk responsibility by saying they “don’t want to get into politics,” I say that fortunately no one is talking politics, which is stuff like how city government should be structured. What we’re talking about is science, morals, ethics.

I’m old enough to have regularly been told things like that having a photo of my family on my desk at work was “airing your political views” thus was inappropriate “because some people might not agree with your marriage.” I’m not doing the thing where discussing reality is “political views.”

If judges can refuse to officiate gay weddings, gay defendants should be able to refuse to be heard by those judges. If they can’t be compelled to perform the most heteronormative of functions, why would anyone believe they are capable of putting their biases aside for something with higher stakes?

TAPPER: What do you hear from trans individuals who maybe aren't as outspoken as you are, but see ads like this during the 2024 election cycle? Because we should know this isn't just a one-off. I think this is one of the main ads the Trump campaign airs.
MOLLOY: Yeah, I mean, they've spent tens of millions of dollars doing this. And it's not just the Trump campaign. It's Republicans across the country have been running ads making these similar points. They see trans people as a small group of just 1% of the population who's easy to demonize. And in talking to trans people, they've been very frustrated to deal with this. It's made a lot of people I know scared. And one thing that people are worried about is if the election does go to Trump, the trans people will be blamed for this outcome.
