The reason SSDs only have a few writes is because of how they write data causes little bits of damage over time to the drive (you can read as much as you want, though). However, this happens over many years of heavy use and generally isn't something you need to worry about if you keep backups.

HDD uses a metal plate and a magnet to imprint data onto it. SSD is fully digital and stores data similar to RAM but more permanent.

HDDs don't last as long as SSD or run as well as SSDs but...I guess they're cheaper both in storage per gB and recovery? That's pretty much the only real advantage.

Yves would have a baritone voice if he a) knew how to sing and b) hadn't been smoking cigarettes since he was like 8 years old. Now it's just a low, scratchy, messy warble of a voice which makes him very mad because otherwise he has perfect pitch.

So it's a bit complicated. He's technically a bastard son, meaning he was born outside of the marriage of Lord and Lady Fortemps, so he's not in the line to become a lord of the house. People call him "lord" as a sign of respect though since Edmont did accept him into the family.

So the next time you feel a knee jerk gut reaction to hate something because AI is mentioned, ask yourself what kind of AI it is, what job it's doing, and what are the costs of it doing its job before you decide to get mad at it.

And AI is used as a tool across multiple disciplines for multiple reasons. The same pattern recognition algorithms AI uses to steal your artwork also allow for more accurate early cancer diagnoses. It's really not that scary at all (except for when capitalism gets involved but that's another thing)

Should AI be broken down into smaller categories? Yes! And it is! ML =/= GenAI =/= pathfinding algorithms, but they're all in some way under that umbrella. Be specific with your terms!

If we redefine AI every few years to mean whatever cool thing it can do next, we risk making it some mystical ethereal scary magic when it's not. It's a bunch of math. It's always been a bunch of math done really fast.

AI has LONG been a nebulous umbrella term for everything from automated chess opponents to your assistant on your phone. Some Roombas use AI to map the area they're supposed to clean to find where they need to go. It's been all around you for decades now.

Sometimes I see the argument "That's not AI because it's not intelligent" and I need y'all to realize that intelligent in computer science =/= self aware and cognizant. It means it's able to perform a complex task that requires decision making to a comparable level of humans. That's it.
