Seeing people fall out of love with FFXIV in real time is very sad, and while I understand that keeping the drumbeat steady after Endwalker is inherently tough, and maybe DT is a bit of a mixed reception, if they immediately fold on this narrative and go right back to sad Ascians I will be bummed.

I suppose this is why I like niche characters - it feels safe to play around with them without having to see John Q Public weigh in a lot.

As someone whose favorite character of all time is Cloud Strife, perhaps I learned a lesson over the years of seeing him get disparaged in the limelight lol

This happens with Fordola too. I can’t bring myself to engage with the small fandom (lovely folk) she has very much because seeing people interpret her differently than me feels weird and I don’t enjoy it. Tira and Fordola are super precious to me as they are to me. Selfish, I know.

Whatever algo change they did on twitter has been rather accurate in suddenly curating a lot of SCVII and Tira-specific talk over there, but I somehow feel even worse about it because seeing MANY people’s takes and interpretations is uh... My comfort character being perceived makes me ill.

And it’s funny, Endwalker was the poison pill for my friend, which I suppose is apt. Now we’re both just in this thing as a compulsion. The love is gone and I don’t have the energy to engage with RP (or others at all, really) and BARELY my own writing like I did when I was younger that kept XI alive

Was reminiscing with a friend about XIV and the “good old days” of Stormblood. Concluded that logging in to an empty house on a vacant street & an empty friends list of 30+ Days since last login perhaps leaves a more sour taste in my mouth about this expansion than anything the story tried to do.

I like that the new Deep Dungeon gunblade has a holster - I’ve always described such a thing for Fordola! Shame it’s literally attached to the thing and looks a bit silly when held. Hoping the mødders out there see the vision and make it an accessory or something. Penance would look great in it!

Omega savage is cool but I feel like I never get an opportunity to like…hit it for any meaningful amount of time? Its feet are constantly moving, missiles make you disengage, I dunno even what to do when it’s doing the freak-out bouncing during Pantokrator. I just run out of time. Oh well.
