"O Lord, support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in your mercy, grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last. Amen."

He sounds like a used car salesman.

Ah, it is so much easier to criticize someone else's behavior when we, ourselves, are behaving in exactly the same way. I feel so much better after my walk. Amazing how healthy behavior usually involves being away from a computer screen.

But, you did - start and be part of a pile-on. See how easy it is? We're all human. Time to move on. OBTW&PS: Leah identified herself as a former employee.

Hate America rally? What is that man smoking?

Substack apologized. Said it was a mistake. I have not encountered any of that, and I've been on Substack for 2 years. I was reacting to a disgruntled employee slamming her former employee publicly, and slammed her, too. I must have thought I was back on FB. I think you do, too. Enough. Move on.
ekaeton.bsky.social
I do. What I was objecting to was an obviously disgruntled employee slamming her former employer in public. I objected. Publicly. And, made it personal. I guess I thought I was back on FB and not BlueSky. No excuse. But, I suppose the pile-on will begin. Old social media habits die hard, I guess.
ekaeton.bsky.social
You're right. I felt she was slamming Substack, which I love, so I slammed her. Two wrongs do not make a right. BlueSky is better than that. Guess my old FB habits are dying hard. No excuse. I'll take my own advice and go for a walk and eat an apple.
ekaeton.bsky.social
See? You're doing exactly what I did. I felt Substack was being slammed. I defended it by slamming her. Not my best moment. You feel she's being slammed. You defended her by slamming me. So, off goes my computer. Out for a walk with me. I'll eat an apple. BlueSky is beginning to feel like FB.

He didn't. They only award it to people with integrity.

Announcing the recipient of the prize at the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo on Friday, the committee warned that "democracy is in retreat" across the world.

A White House official responded by saying the "Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace."

You're absolutely right. I reacted to feeling insulted by the public ranting of an obviously disgruntled former employee. I enjoy Substack, which is a great alternative to so many other social media platforms. I felt I was defending Substack, which she would never hear. I see my error. Thank you.
ekaeton.bsky.social
I hear your anger. You might want to consider turning off your computer for a while. Take a long walk. Eat some fruit & vegetables. Try healthy alternatives to spewing your anger publicly & insulting the intelligence of those who find Substack a great alternative platform to, say, FB and Insta, etc.

"May be legitimizing . . ."

Mr. Fisher-Birch has lots of opinions, many of which are not informed by fact-based evidence, but his own anxieties.

He has an absolute right to his own opinions. He does not have a right to his own facts.

These are anxious times. Hysteria is not helpful.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has accurately noted that “13 of the top 20 cities in homicide rates have Republican governors. None of these cities is Chicago. Eight of the top 10 states with the highest homicide rates are led by Republicans. None of those states is Illinois.”

Who are you, and why are you telling complete strangers to get off Stubstack? Would you walk up to someone on the street and say that? Seriously?
ekaeton.bsky.social
There's a storm on the way. Can you tell?
ekaeton.bsky.social
Why do you want people to leave SubStack? How do you even know this is true? Honest to Ethel! Some people are so gullible. Or, lazy.

It's the birthday of the English singer & songwriter John Lennon, born in Liverpool, England, in 1940. He was an only child, raised by his aunt and uncle, but his mother lived nearby, and she encouraged him to play.

He wrote the song "Imagine": "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one"

I am not so much impressed by the expression of the gratitude of the 10th leper as I am by his willingness to risk intimacy again with someone outside of his identity.
