This was incredible. We fed 40 families today. Thank you to @jchavezmpls.bsky.social for helping fundraise, @elitalksmpls.bsky.social for organizing with me, and the dozen people who helped us pack and shop. And thank you to everyone who donated. I have no words.

I attended a demonstration in my area with my MN state flag. It caused a hubbub (in a good way) one thing lead to another; I was giving a short speech. This isn’t something I normally do but share it as a reminder:

We can all be braver than we were yesterday, last month, last year. Indeed we must.
This guy is in Minneapolis standing before an American citizen in an SUV.

The only reason he's brandishing an assault rifle is because he wants the people he's purportedly there protecting to feel terrorized by his presence.

This is not protection. This is occupation.
In Minneapolis this afternoon—

Hundreds are streaming across the snow and ice into Powderhorn Park for a rally and march demanding ICE leave Minnesota.

It is bitterly cold. There are hardcore Midwesterners out here making their way in with trekking poles.

Amy Klobuchar: "There are now more ICE agents in Minnesota than there are police officers combined in Minneapolis and St. Paul. So they are outnumbering our own local police officers out on the streets."
We evacuated our kids out of Minneapolis this weekend and my spouse reports that as she drove them out of town she saw "multiple freeway exits where people are being pulled over." It feels like the Twin Cities is being subjugated by a hostile occupying force.
And Renee Good’s last words appear to be “We’re not mad at you.”
In the video that the shooter took, which I believe was leaked to be exculpatory, he appears to yell “fucking bitch” after he shoots Renee Good.

I have years of memories on my bike, with my dog, on long runs, on public transport, driving my 1st used car thru my 20s on these streets. Mpls is the greatest community I’ve known and it contains multitudes. I understand non-MN’ans don’t know us like we know ourselves, but trust me: you wish you do
A friend in Minneapolis just sent me this video. Looks like thousands have come together for a vigil after an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. This was my neighborhood for several years before coming to Portland.

The moral compass of Mpls is strong.
It takes an enormous amount of courage to stand there, keep filming, and scream "What the fuck, you asshole" at someone wearing a badge who just shot and killed one of your neighbors in cold blood.
I need people to wrap their minds around the fact that here in Minneapolis, ICE broke the window of a vehicle yesterday, pepper sprayed the occupants, and arrested them, and shot another observer in the face today, and OBSERVERS ARE STILL GOING OUT TO PROTECT THEIR NEIGHBORS AT MASSIVE PERSONAL RISK
10,000 people honoring Renee Nicole Good

"DHS has shown that harm is not a mistake; it is how the system works."

This entire statement from LUCE in Massachusetts is fantastic.

Now, more than ever, we all need to step up to keep our communities safe. Considering joining this work: www.lucemass.org
Live coverage: Thousands of people are attending a vigil near the scene of the fatal ICE shooting in Minneapolis.

Vigils are also being held in Duluth and Mankato.

Our reporters are on site at the vigil - network congestion preventing uploads currently. We would estimate up to 10,000 people are attending the vigil near 34th and Portland Avenue in Minneapolis at this time.
I hate to break it to you, but heavily-armed government militias are roaming unchecked through US cities and shooting human rights observers dead in the streets. That's happening in our country.

I don’t know how many times Minnesotans will be asked to prove how stubborn, righteous, and impervious to all weather conditions we actually are, but none of this surprised me between 2020 and now.

I’m eating lunch, I’m having a panic attack, I’m charging my phone, and then I’m going back out to try and keep my neighborhood safe.
Jacob Frey: "To ICE -- get the fuck out of Minneapolis"
Mayor Jacob Frey: "They are already trying to spin this as an action of self defense. Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly that is bullshit."

We don't have to live like this.

This is murder.
Absolutely horrific details about an ICE shooting in Minneapolis.

A witness says a woman was trying to drive away from an ICE operation and the ICE agent "reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times."

Bovino was there.

ICE reportedly shot someone at Portland and 33/34. Mspt saying bullets, could be less lethal 20+ agents on site, MPD and ambulances responding. Helicopters overhead
