Greg Bovino, Kristi Noem, and DHS need to answer for their unchecked attacks on Chicago residents.

ICE is an out-of-control danger to our peaceful communities.

The images from the Sun-Times today speak for themselves.

five of the 11 people arrested during last night’s protest outside the ice detention center in broadview, illinois, are still in federal custody, per a statement from the national lawyers guild of chicago.

nlg details indiscriminate violence directed at legal observers, protesters, and press.

Broadview Police have opened an investigation into an attack from federal agents on a CBS crew at Broadview, per BPD Chief Mills.
folks on scene told me he appeared to be singled out for filming a protester shouting KYS at an agent and the agent saying something along the same lines back. unless i'm missing something, it's not a crime to film two people arguing in a public street.
although it's good news he wasn't charged, this situation is absurd.

he was singled out in the crowd on suspicion of... what? filming a brief altercation between an agen and a protester?

1) this is a shocking attack on the press.
2) this is an attack on anyone with a phone's rights.
Seven people were just released, greeted with cheers and hugs.

Steve (@peoplesfabric.com), @unraveledpress.com, @thetriibe.com (and others with them) have been doing some of the most phenomenal coverage of ICE ops/protests in Chicago.

They’ve had a journalist shot in the face w/ pepper balls and another detained for it.

Journalism is not a crime. Free Steve.

we took a (slightly) more normal photo together too
i don't think there's a photo that better sums up my life in chicago than this one from bernice's last night
whatever. idk what my point is here. I'm just mad because I can see how people keep failing trans women again and again and again and again.
i'm tired of having to explain this to people, that it's not just about pronouns or whatever. there's a whole system of care and support that's absent for trans women in Chicago and across the country.
since I've been at the @chicago.suntimes.com, we've written about two trans women who died who I've known personally.

maybe that's not a remarkable statistic to you, but it weighs on me pretty heavily.

At Action Camp, campers get to see kids and adults who are like them, showing them there is a future. “Being a queer child now is just getting scarier and scarier," one camper said. “It’s nice to not have to argue that you’re a person for a bit.”
How a sleepaway camp became a 'dream utopia' for queer kids under threat
The five-day sleepaway camp has developed a strong queer community, connecting youth ages 12 to 17 from across the state for five days of activities, educational sessions and community.
