I mean, better late than never? But we are a decade into this, and it's much too late to get tough on lying Republicans.
STEPHANOPOULOS: I didn't insinuate anything. I asked you whether Tom Homan accepted $50k as was heard on an audio tape recorded by the FBI in September 2024. You did not answer the question. Thank you for your time.

VANCE: No, George, I sai--

STEPHANOPOULOS: We'll be right back
A peacemaker abroad?

Tell that to Denmark, who thought we were about to invade Greenland.

Tell that to Canada, where the threat of annexation was treated as a serious security issue.

Get out of here with this bullshit, MSM.
They invited one academic to the Olympics and she almost ruined the whole scene.
In fact, fully 1/3 of the country will go along with that.
She sees where this is going - a bloodbath for Republicans. She is trying to save herself. It's time for Republicans to think about life after Trump. He's old, sick, senile, profoundly stupid, and he can't go on much longer.
All we need is $50billion more and this will look like it happened on planet Earth.
Donald Trump's health crisis is so serious that he's having monthly infusions of something potent enough that he isn't seen in public for days after treatment, but our democratic accountability is so badly broken none of us are allowed to know what is happening.

That is completely unacceptable.
It's sad that Republicans have given up on most of what America stands for. Almost like they decided to overthrow the democracy as soon as it produced a black liberal presidency.
Trump always said he admired Duterte's policy of executing drug dealers without due process. I guess the question is what percentage of Republicans agree that due process isn't a thing.
You roll up at Home Depot and a guy like this pops out of an oversize truck with a Thin Blue Line decal and your mind says, "Oh shit, here's another fascist."

Except now all these guys have a new line of work.
The US is a thoroughly white supremacist country, and any white liberal who speaks against it is treated as a race traitor, or simply a traitor.

Our "value-neutral" press treats this framework as a given and plays up the "radicalism" of anyone who challenges it. Without being aware of the problem.

The reality is that the US Department of Homeland Security has been openly seized by unapologetic white nationalists who freely indulge in neo-Nazi rhetoric and use their huge and growing paramilitary army to mount massive attacks on communities of color in the US in a campaign of racist oppression

We're not at war with Venezuela, these boats are many hundreds of lines from our waters, much less our shores, there is no threat, this is just murder.

I really do think everyone from the SecDef to the guy who pushed the button should be tried for murder on this.
Don’t believe anyone who tells you that intelligence shows anything “without a doubt,” but even if the intelligence was water-tight, this strike was still murder. No law permits the deliberate, premeditated killing of civilians.
All of these people need to be prosecuted when Trump is out of office. Don't trust any Democrat who won't commit to going after these people.
ICE just blatantly violated the law and arrested sitting Chicago Alderperson Jessie Fuentes while seeking to illegally arrest a patient in a hospital. Fuck these fascists.
This is just part of the GOP mind set since Obama: "It's the black people's fault I'm so racist." Look how much of a bigot you made me! It's pathetic.
I've been listening to Fishbone since I was a teenager in the 80s. They never got the level of attention their music and message deserved.
We don't have to admit the truth of who we really are, which is the only possible way we can reform ourselves.
One of the distinguishing aspects of your leadership (so far) is that you did not descend to this kind of childish snark at the expense of your own site's users. Not a great sign.
I think the most useful thing Democratic leaders could do right now is to threaten prosecution for the Trump administration officials responsible for these wholesale abuses of American rights.

Name names, and specify crimes. Threaten people. It's the only thing that will check Stephen Miller.
You can't raid and arrest everyone in an entire apartment building, or even legitimately get a warrant to do that, any more than you could for a whole neighborhood. That would be a general warrant. This is the most specific core the-British-did-it-to-us thing the Fourth Amendment is written to ban.
NEW — An estimated 40 people were taken by federal agents in an overnight raid in South Shore, a predominantly-Black neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side.

A couple who live nearby said they were shocked to see the enormous militarized raid in their community.

I don't see how we get any accountability here until leading Democrats come out and say the people responsible for this will be prosecuted, specify who they believe is responsible, and how their prosecution will proceed.

That's the only thing that could keep Stephen Miller in check.
In our time, the most obnoxious residue of American Exceptionalism is the bizarre persistence of It Can't Happen Here in a country where this literally has happened before.

Read the history of the Palmer Raids (really, the Hoover raids) after WW1. Let's talk about deportation of "enemies within."
Everyone tempted to offer a silly Nazi analogy should be required to read a book about the FBI's infiltration of civil rights groups in the 1950s and 60s. It was horribly abusive. The FBI has been a right-wing paramilitary outfit for most of its history. There is nothing German about any of this.
