Brilliant to hear Liz from t1international sharing their mission to make access to insulin a human right. Their aim is to make the cost of essential diabetes supplies less than 5% of a person income in any given country. Another amazing community led group leading the charge for change #IDF25Bangkok
First session is on reproductive health in women with diabetes. Learning that 1 in 4 women with type 1 diabetes may also have PCOS. Girls with T1D also tend to start their periods later than others #IDF25Bangkok
Really excited to spend the day in sessions at #IDF25Congress in Bangkok. Starting with a matcha 💚
Looking forward to heading to Thailand this weekend for the world diabetes congress. I am speaking on patient involvement in research and policy. Let me know if you will be there too!

Kirsty closes the session talking about the role of senior peer support workers in the hybrid closed loop onboarding program in Scotland. These are paid roles which give that peer support for people starting on HCL. Amazing work! #dukpc25 #dedoc
Alex brings the Type F (friends and family) perspective to the session sharing her positive experience with the diabetes uk lived experience advisory group. They are open to new members if anyone wants to get involved #dedoc #dukpc25

Next up the #dedoc symposium with four of the dedoc voices sharing their experiences of diabetes, advocacy, misdiagnosis and peer support #dukpc25 #gbdoc
It was also amazing to hear Dan and Vicki sharing their experiences of stigma. Vicki works within the police and was shocked at the lack of knowledge of diabetes within the force when she was diagnosed
These number give just a taste of the impact of stigma
The complexity and impact of stigma is huge
Totally agree Mary! It’s been so good seeing it on the program and I am sure we are only just touching the tip of the iceberg.
First session today is on diabetes stigma starting with diabetes UK sharing the plan to tackle this. You can share your thoughts and ideas on their plans here - www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/dukpc-tack... #dukpc25 #dedoc
Day 2 of #dukpc25 and the sun is shining! Make sure you join us online for the #dedoc symposium this afternoon! It will be live streamed on the DeDoc Facebook page and youtube channel
Finished up the day with a discussion on the roles in the multidisciplinary diabetes team. Including

- diabetes specialist nurse
- primary care nurse
- dietitian
- pharmacist
- psychologist
- GP
- lived experience

How many of these do you have?
I wish there was more mention of peer support!
My favourite session of the day was on neurodivergence and diabetes, a completely new topic for me. So many challenges! Jacq shared a powerful video of what a consultation feels like for her. Think listening to music, tapping your feet, clicking your fingers all while talking about basal rates
The opening session have Brian Kennon sharing the progress of HCL access in Scotland and Partha talking about England. Equitable access to HCL has been a focus of both nations and an important challenge for the whole diabetes ecosystem to tackle
Day 1 of #dukpc2025 in Glasgow. It may have been raining outside but there the usual conference buzz inside was amazing. I received my pass for the event through DeDoc.org which brings people living with diabetes to the big diabetes conferences around the world!
