The reason there isn't a clear accurate historical reference to go off of is because like most cults in the beginning, it started as an oral tradition that grew over time.

In time those teachings were usurped for the powerful and political gains.

Plus, the core tenants haven't evolved over the millenia much, worship of a dead savior, to a god that demands obedience for the promise of paradise. The teachings and the scriptures are focused on the glory of that paradise, not this life.

If you go back in time to the conception of Christianity in Rome before it was adopted as the state religion, it was another odd spiritual cult that often was seen as a nucance because the followers of this cult believed their true lives were in heaven and the after life - hence death cult

I as a personality was exiled at 14 and another walked out in a shamanic experiment gone wrong. What I gathered after 25yrs and that personality finally vanishing was that the bulk of their frustration was taken out on my family.
