Every day the news gets weirder and worse.

Target fixation in full effect. Like trying not to think of a pink elephant but, you know, if the elephant was a predator.

Eight minutes after I filed an appeal, this.

"After taking another look, we can confirm that your channel does not violate our Community Guidelines."

Usually not inclined to blame malice where incompetence will do, but I have to imagine someone filed a complaint of some sort?

Hi Andrew Leahey,
We have reviewed your appeal for the following:

For the last year or so I've had Minimum Competence episodes automatically uploaded to YouTube. Just received a notice from YouTube that the channel has been canceled and shows taken down as they violate the "spam, deceptive practices and scams policy."

Genuinely have no idea what that means.

Hi Andrew Leahey,
We have reviewed your content and found severe or repeated violations of
our spam, deceptive practices and scams policy. Because of this, we have
removed your channel from YouTube.
We know this is probably very upsetting news, but it's our job to make sure
that YouTube is a safe place for all. If we think a channel severely violates
our policies, we take it down to protect other users on the platform - but if
you believe we've made the wrong call, you can appeal this decision. You'll
find more information about the policy in question and how to submit an
appeal below.
What our policy says
Content that promotes spam, scams, or other deceptive practices isn't
allowed on YouTube.

In most reports I see the Pacific Palisades suspect referred to first as an Uber driver. In a culture where we equate employment with identity, that is clear evidence Uber drivers are employees.

I can usually tell when someone is mad about something I wrote because there is a flurry of visits to my website and LinkedIn. It’s like an early warning system for angry emails.

Surely there was another speech.

If Antifa is a dangerous terrorist organization, shouldn't Fox News be turning the guy in? Would they do the same with a bank robber?

Suggests they don't buy their own rhetoric.

Every Creed album cover looks like it was made by a teenager that just unlocked a pirated copy of Kai's Power Tools.

I guess I don't follow the thought -- the National Guard was deployed overseas and no one batted an eye, but now that they're deployed to US cities people have concerns.

Yeah, man. Yeah. There are a whole host of things present in war people don't want to see on city streets.

This week on Everything is Debatable:

A. It's deplorable that media is run by folks who'd absolutely own a human zoo if they could.

vs.

B. No actually it's fine.

Welp, that's it. That's everyone.

!!

You get to my idea in footnote 2! In 2019!

This is great, thank you for sharing -- I'm tearing open my undergrad Intro to Tax Theory and Policy syllabus and I want to build at least one class around the MID. This is a perfect foundation.

A lot of folks are going to have to have big blank spans on their resumes to get work after all of this is over.

If you believe your religion to be the one true one, what difference would it make what the pagans did?

Also, I so wish these folks had paid attention for a smidgen of a moment in school so that we wouldn't have to endure their calling everything they don't like "communist."
