I mean if I was working from lat long I would go. 5 Deg broad resolution as default. This is also why I think timezone is a reasonable filter (even with n/s) issue as it's an existing data format. Just log the upload timezone.
Again not perfect but don't let perfect stop improvement

I really wish more sites (YT/Bsky ect...) had filter by region. Like I would prefer verified by region but a loose declare would help so much.
For technical topics I often want a global view but for SO many things I want location specific vibes or discovery.
By Country or TZ either would be huge

No such thing as perfect politics
I have fundamental disagreements on nuclear, energy and science but overall under @zackpolanski.bsky.social Green Party is looking more aligned to my economic and social interests than Labour now
1. Wealth inequality
2. Being decent humans
3. Domestic/Foreign

Useful for cache-friendly access patterns (images/voxels), and it lets you do lossy compression by discarding low-entropy details or perform shallow queries, ie LOD.

With a bit of thinking you can see how you can use that in quad/oct trees and a bunch of other places for cool things.

Easiest wavelet to explain, Haar transform:
1. Split list of numbers into pairs
2. For each pair, store average and 1st num diff from avg
3. Avg List + Detail list
Same size, but low detail follow by high. You can reconstruct everything easily.

Rinse and repeat until one number: Overall Avg

Reading OIT pdf from COD team got me thinking about wavelets and fun ops you can use them for
Hate how some math stuff is hidden behind artificial complexity
Wavelets are not a complicated topic but most the literature is indecipherable at first pass.

Paused launch crunch for a few days to work on EA trailer so I could submit to #godot showreel last night. Feeling really good about the edit not ready to punish yet but submitted to the showreel. Taking the day.

Read up on the effect of 1920s depression on music halls, theatre and luxury spend of the common folk it was way down. Meanwhile drinking went through the roof one of the thing which led to prohibition (effects showed up pre 1920)

Gamers are tightening their belts going for reliable (old) games
evilkimau.bsky.social
I think the more important is we are at the end of the growth phase for gaming.
Also the global crisis in wealth inequality esp in developed nations means the luxury spend of the average person is way way down with high end luxury going through the roof. That is a bigger effect than people see

Actually YouTube viewtime on TV was all tone low I think 2016-2018 been growing every since I know it's really high right now. TV is still really important see how much weight switch gave to docked mode because cause of % of players always docked

If I've been quiet it's because my schedule is insane ATM with code. I see 4am code more often than 8am for last few weeks... Not sustainable but hey hehe I am going to die someday.

My first degree was in AI and while the ethics are horrid I'm more concerned about the politics than the tech and I worry not enough progressive and technical people engage honestly with it. Which could lead to really bad outcomes. I advocate for non mainline engagement at much as possible ATM
evilkimau.bsky.social
Agree on the ethics but I can't scream this enough we need to engage with the subject.
Too complex for a tweet but I'm really concerned by the lack of engagement in the technical side from progressive and diverse voices. We limit it's use to review and non commercial usage.
evilkimau.bsky.social
That said it does take skill to use. I've spoken to a lot of people, used different models and the skill gap in the user ability to leverage LLM is quite large often. It's limited but using it teaches you how to get more out of it.
evilkimau.bsky.social
It's terrible at debugging in the general reasoning through problems sense but throwing a block of changes or code at AI often catch-up typos or slight mistakes. It's also constantly getting better.
Also it can highlight issues, answer questions and reframe things
Flawed but still really useful.
