“A few photos from a lovely circular walk yesterday from Simonsbath. So many fungi around 🍄 I found a great place to hide a hand painted stone which I know has been picked up by someone.”

“We dropped down to the river quarme, then follwed it along to Luckwell bridge. Up Long Lane and out to Dunkery Hill Gate. Then a short climb up to the Beacon. Downhill then for a long way along Langham woods then up through Little Quarme woods and back to Wheddon Cross. 7 mile.”

I’ll check the origin of the name for you.
We also have a Granny’s Ride on Exmoor - a footpath which is even named on maps. I have often wondered whose granny used to ride along there.

“It was such a beautiful day for wander on Exmoor yesterday. We got caught out by the road closure just above Cloutsham but our diversion through Stoke Pero did lead to the fabulous view of three red kites giving a majestic air display.”
By Chris Berry.
