#5debutalbums8084 Altered Images - Happy Birthday (1981) The tweely distinctive vocal style of Claire Grogan works beautifully over the band's sparse post punk. Steve Severin produced a surprisingly moody album that has really stood the test of time. I'm thoroughly enjoying this run out. 🎂 #MusicSky

#5debutalbums8084 Josef K - The Only Fun In Town (1981) with Paul Haig. If contemporaries Orange Juice were full of zest, Josef K were full of literate bile. Dance music for standing still to. A handful of records gives scant evidence of their influence. Best track - Crazy To Exist #MusicSky

Enigmatic and cryptic lyrics coupled with traditional yet fresh sounding guitars made for a "right band at the right time" scenario. Ace. #MusicSky

As if Robert Smith and Steve Severin weren't busy enough in the early 80s, they released this one-off side project of varied but eccentric psychedelic pop.
