No wonder you didn‘t know, since I likely never mentioned this, but I do think that Hawlucha is one of the more memorable Pokemon from that gen. Cool design and an interesting dual typing.

Not much of a fan of its mega evo however. I think it leans too heavily into its wrestling theme for my liking

And then Pokemon Z never became a thing to expand on Kalos.

And then Sun & Moon came out which just left me really disappointed (It didn‘t even have a proper Victory Road for fuck‘s sake!), to the point I lost any interest in the newer games.

At least ORAS was a nice remake, I still like them.

Despite my more mixed thoughts of the game nowadays, I still remember having a good time with X & Y. It was fun having a mainline game in 3D, even with the lack of an extended post game, & was excited to see how Game Freak would build on its foundations for future games.

I also find the raster of new Pokemon to be somewhat
middling. There are a couple mons I really like (like Hawlucha, the Fire & Water starters, plus Meowstic, the best Psychic Type), but most of the mons I find to be kind of forgettable.

The presentation, region and new features like Mega Evolution were really cool, but I also noticed that the games were moving in a direction I didn‘t like. The games became way more handholdy and stripped down in terms of places to go, compared to the amount of optional locations of the old ones.

Anyway, I was pretty excited for this game when it first launched and enjoyed it at the time, but ultimately I think this was the start of when I slowly grew off the series.

Ramblings aside, I really like Maya, both in their female or male phases, and I'm pleasantly surprised how quickly she became a fully formed character, even if there is still plenty to be explored.

Now it's time for the other two OCs I've adopted to get fleshed out.

Considering my own complicated relationship with masculinity, mulling over a fem character getting in touch with their male half was a very interesting task. Thinking about what Maya would find fulfilling about presenting themselves as male made me wonder about my own connection to my masculinity.

One interesting thing is that Maya is AFAB and only discovered their masculine side after coming up with a male alter ego called Luketz to gain respect from those who did not take them seriously. Over time, however, that half became a genuine part of themselves and no longer a role they played.

If you remember the post I made a while ago about the character I've adopted & made up most of their backstory and personality, it's them! Maya's design alongside their already established genderfluidity (and me joking they're related to Moritz) captivated me & I'm really happy how they turned out.

Sometimes I do love how my brain works. Just a single spark of inspiration is enough to make my gears turn with max efficiency.

Maya Masilingi is a person of many dualities: Nerd/Jock is one of them, but the most obvious would be Female/Male. As a genderfluid person, their gender identity changes constantly alongside their mannerisms & appearances.

Funny, that is how I first got acquainted with Blaze as well. Only got to play Rush when I was a teen while I had the Olympic games before.
