Or if you meant the federated approach, not the federation itself, then I don't know!
I assume because Google and Amazon (twitch) own a major part of server infrastructures worldwide and keep driving up the cost of hosting. Any serious competitor would either have to bring their own server farms somehow, or directly fund their competitor and suffer from their price gouging.
Less than I would have guessed!
This looks absolutely amazing!

I'm curious, what is the memory imprint? I assume it's pretty small since it's a repeating pattern?
I found a lot of games and devs from their posts about funny bugs and weird solutions they find. Regular behind-the-scene stuff is often popular and makes people want to comment and interact.
@joelbaylis.bsky.social has no idea how much he's contributed to my motivation and sanity in the last two years. I would go insane without music, and somehow, the Cassette Beasts and Lenna's Inception OST became the soundtrack to my master's degree, hahaha. They're just so good? Awesome games too!
Yeah, those websites are all AI generated scams.
I love the texture of your backgrounds and lines, especially that pencil brush, its great!

What software do you use?

I've been trying to find a good pencil brush for Krita, but none has quite satisfied me so far.
Your designs are so good. Seriously, you draw very good bugs. ;v;
Even worse, film speed. Like I understand the origin, but even back then it was arguably not the right term.

Awesome, and thank you! This is all super useful information.
Oh, one last curiosity, were the simulation meshes made by hand or were they automagically generated from the render meshes?

Did you have to setup springs, constraints, material properties, etc. by hand or was it all behind the scene / handled by the engine?
That's exactly what I needed to know, thanks!

Ah, and no worries. I'm interested in the artist-side of things, not the inner workings. I'll work out the later myself. :P
Was it for baking cloth simulations or for live simulation in games?
By matching sim and render meshes, do you mean the topology, the animation, or something else?

Like was it about updating the sim mesh to better match changes to the render mesh?

Or adjusting the simulated results to better match a blendshape or armature based animation of the render mesh?

This may be hard to answer, but what specifically did you like about theirs?

I'm interested in upgrading some of the physics stuff, and it'd help a lot to have a end user goal instead of just doing it for the cool maths. :P
VALIDATE YOU'VE GOT EVERYTHING. There's a bug with mass download on gdrive.

I stopped using google drive in 2021 when I realized this had been an issue since 2019, and hundreds of other users had the same issue. Google ended up locking the thread without fix.

Modern platforms feel worse than exaggerations of what not to do you'd find in UI & UX design textbooks. Especially blogs, news, YouTube, and wikis (thanks Fandom).

They trigger all the red flags I relied on back then to tell if a website was trying to scam me or give me a virus back in 2005.
I feel like things were actually more user friendly back then. I think it was more about:

1. Access to information (reliable search engines)
2. Community (not investor) driven platforms
3. Owning the software you bought
4. Excitement about the future

Hopefully we'll get some of these back someday.
