Hot take: I view Matt Rhule as the Houston Nutt of the Penn State coaching search.

He's not their first choice. He's the guy you call when 12 other candidates have turned you down. But ultimately, he's just using your interest for leverage.

It got buried in the Rhule / PSU discourse, but there was big news on the redshirt front.

Rhule does not believe the "5 for 5" policy is going to pass this year.

Willis McGahee IV is likely head for a redshirt.

I have read that in 1940, #2 Stanford was the Rose Bowl's first choice. Back then, they could pick their opponent.

My understanding is that Stanford wanted Minnesota, but the Gophers declined - and recommended Nebraska.
