I askedthe parents if the 5yo would rather have something whimsical or something more simply patterned? They went with whimsical, and we love dinosaurs. The charts are from div. sources, like the stomping dinosaurs socks, and dinosaur doodles. I just realised I need a couple more for the sleeves 🙈
I’m glad at least some of the yarn ended up in a comfortable project. It looks so cozy.
🧶 The work in progress that fascinated the 5 year old nibling. I’m a bit apprehensive it might turn out too small because I did not swatch and just hoped for the best with my references from earlier projects. 🤫 Don’t tell the kid. Isn’t it beautiful though? #KnitSky #KnittingForNiblings
The 5 year old this morning: Was? Knittest du nur mit eine yarn colour? Wo ist deine colourful yarn?
I speak English with them, they speak a mixture of German and English with me. I had to switch to my second project because I forgot to bring the needles I needed. #KnitSky #KnittingForNiblings
🧶 The 5-year-old has finally started showing an interest in my knitting. I am knitting a wonderfully colourful pullover for them. We spent at least half an hour talking about knitting, and my tools, and they helpfully unwound yarn from the ball for me as needed. 🥰 #KnittingForNiblings #KnitSky

🧶 I’ve had some problems with adding pictures to posts, but I’m glad it’s working again. I’ve been on a big #KnittingForNiblings kick, and have finished a top, two jackets, and this pullover in the last month, and still so many plans. #Knitsky

🧶I’m not big on spooky knitting, so this is the closest project I’ve made. I thought this hank would be variegated, instead it turned out to be colour blocked in these beautiful spooky season colours. Meanwhile #KnittingForNiblings and #Socktober continue bts. #ShowMeYourKnits #KnitSky
🧶 Who needs sleep? I accidentally kept myself awake by hyper focussing on my kdrama and these socks until past midnight last night. Suffice it to say, this morning was very slow. I made it to my appointment on time though & started another pair of socks as travel knitting. #ShowMeYourKnits #KnitSky
I weighed the yarn and divided the socks accordingly. I think it worked out really well. Sometimes I think the way I plan my projects can be summarised with the question: “what can I do to make more maths necessary?” 🤣
🧶 #ShowMeYourKnits I spent a lovely day playing with two of my niblings. It was a successful day because the 3-year-old asked to continue playing with me instead of going to bed 😄 Here are the last socks I finished. They’re knit in reverse stockinette from the rest of the yarn from my top. #KnitSky
Oh wow! I agree, reevaluate before continuing. Even if the decision is, finish and pass it on. I feel like my upper chest fluctuates less than my full chest. I’ve had relative consistency there, but I do benefit from fit adaptions. I’m learning to give myself more fabric where I need it.
Whatever I make it will be specifically for this child. I was kind of worried parents might not use a blanket as much, but you’re right, it might still be a great keepsake later on.
#KnitSky What are the baby knits you’ve made that have been most used or appreciated?
I want to make something for the next baby. Siblings got and used baby blanket and romper sack, but parents have those. So I’m wondering what to make for this baby, that is most likely to be used.
🧶 I made this monster book end a few months back, and somehow it just has a very whimsical, but kind aura. It’s a good listener for sure. This evening it’s cheering me up while I’m feeling very overwhelmed by work. Pattern: Monster Bookends by Rebecca Danger.

I’ve somehow launched myself from being uninspired what to knit next into projects for my niblings. They are the ones I knit for most apart from myself. Always a joy, and a labour of love. This one flew off my needles. I hope nibling will be able to wear it next year. #ShowMeYourKnits #KnitSky
if you’re looking to make this for yourself, it’s the Pyramis by Ainur Berkimbayeva/ Toqu Tigu.
I’m thinking of selling or donating this finished one because I don’t really have space for it in my wardrobe (which I also need to go through).
I knit the sleeves two at a time because I was worried I’d run out, and I wanted them to be even, if I had to finish in the bright green. 😅
All finished, and I won yarn chicken! Less than 1g of the light green yarn left, less than 5g of the other. I love when my plans work out 😄 Definitely a joyful knit. I’m thinking about selling this one. Any recommendations where to do that with least hassle in DE or EU? #ShowMeYourKnits #KnitSky
Project 2 is finished and blocked, and ready to be worn over shirts. Blocking did wonders. I ran out of the light pink yarn. The plan was for 6 more rounds which would have brought the fade down to the hem. Pattern: Everyday Round Vest by Noriko Ichikawa knit inside out. #KnitSky #ShowMeYourKnits
Four times 😱 they look great though. So I it was worth it in my book.
#ShowMeYourKnits Here‘s an autumn project that matches my current project. My first Pyramis was part of the test knit, and I added the sleeves after finishing the sleeveless version. Ainur added a sleeved version to the pattern, so now anyone can make a lovely cozy sweater like mine.

I‘m a loose knitter, so 3.5mm and DK weight yarn work well for me 😄 I usually have to go down a size or two to get gauge.
It‘s a really fun pattern. Pyramis by Ainur Berkimbayeva/ Toqu Tigu. I test knit it, when it only had the sleeveless version. After the test knit I decided I‘d get more wear if it had longer sleeves, so I added those. Ainur has since added a sleeved version into the pattern, inspired by mine. 😊
Project 3: This also came on our trip, though I didn’t work on it much. It‘s my current „at home“ project, and I am now knitting the sleeves taat because I might run out of light green yarn, and I want them to be even.
Today I am pooling my energy for my nibling‘s birthday party tomorrow.
