I haven't written about the dark forest idea. The way I've understand it (with reference to Liu Cixin's novel) is the people that used to make the internet vibrant now hide "in the forest" out of fear of being attacked by the trending topic vigilantes on social media.

Yes, I also block time every quarter to go through everything and all my commitments. At the moment a day is enough. I tried to do those reviews monthly. But it felt like they were coming at me too often. Quarterly is a good rhythm.

I recently listened to an interview with Olga Ravn on the Between the Covers podcast and it was an amazing conversation. Her work also popped up on a private writers group I'm part of. I feel like the universe is pointing me in the direction of her work.

Lack of economic literacy as well? When the Sydney casino opened their chief economics writer penned a feature about the benefits of the casino. I wrote a letter to the editor pointing out that the social costs of gambling can be measured in standard economic terms and the piece didn't mention that.

I didn't finish my PhD. But I did read pretty much everything René Girard wrote. My first degree was in Theology and my final essay was on Apocalyptic literature and The Book of Revelation.

So, when I read about Peter Thiel's "beliefs," or hear interviews, I don't know whether to laugh or not.

I've myself two days a week off (Wednesday and one of Saturday or Sunday). Sometimes I still do my morning writing on those days. But I give myself permission to do other things. I take a week off every quarter. But I typically come up with a lot of ideas and notes on those weeks.
