🍿 SHUDDER Film 7 of 31: Sissy 💅

I enjoyed this. Felt like it was striking the same tone that Slaxx attempted of candy-colored influencer violence, but with a bit more skill. Many of the characters are still insufferable, but Aisha Dee is great in the titular role.

The 1st thing that stands out about this movie is its GORGEOUS cinematography and visuals. The 2nd thing is the cast/crew being all family members. Third is the music. Loved this one.

🍿 SHUDDER Film 3 of 31: Mandy 🐯

Honestly, this is the type of movie I go to Shudder for: the genre of surreal pseudo-Lynchian fever dream that keeps you up at night thinking, WTF even was that? Loved it. Your mileage may vary depending on your tolerance level for overly aesthetic strangeness.

Okay, had to switch up the order a bit because the tonal whiplash was immense...

TDATW has some good scares, but it sure takes its sweet time getting there. This is a very, very slow burn with some decent atmosphere and visuals.

I get why it worked for some people, but I also get why it had a lot of theater walkouts. I will say that you will very quickly know if you can tolerate it or not - like within the first 10 min, easily.
