My son got one of those Transformers that pairs with Soundwave and turns into a cassette tape, and was amused that the tech’s now obsolete. We think they should do a whole line of Obsoleteacons: 8-tracks, fax machines, Selectavision disks, dot matrix printers, that car from The Secret Service…

This week's Fake Criterion is for Irezumi, a terrific 1966 film by Yasuzō Masumura. I'm very happy with how well this turned out. Arrow released a really nice edition of this, which you should all check out!

I’ve watched Giant and Johnny Guitar this week and honestly, Mercedes McCambridge was underrated as a movie villain. I’ve wanted to see her awful characters get thrown from horses every second she’s on screen.

I ordered some more 1960s Czechoslovakian films from the amazing people at @orbitdvd.bsky.social . I keep an Amazon wishlist for convenience’s sake and order from small businesses whenever I can. Each of these were $2 to $9 cheaper than Amazon, with free shipping. They’re the best!
