...2/2 Just by virtue of being an author, I've put a lot of myself into a lot of different characters. But Alex has the most of me, out of every character from every story I've ever written. Though her circumstance are very different from mine, her journey is an extremely personal one to me.

is chronically lonely
is deaf in one ear so wears a hearing aid

I've always found the Hodag to be really cool. I'm also a little jealous, because here in Minnesota we don't have much for original folklore tales. I suppose maybe Paul Bunyan kept all the monsters out.

Probably vampires I guess. I enjoy them as walking forces of nature, as a kind of representation of freedom/inner nature trying to get out, as a metaphor for a cycle of abuse, and so on.

I beat Elden Ring deathless! (for the second time!) And I did Fire Giant, Maliketh, and Gideon hitless. Radagon and Elden Beast hit me once each.

The plain ol' unembellished Hammer is very fun and stance breaks just as well if not better than any other weapon I've used.

Fowl Blade has numerous night creatures: dark manifestations of predators that hunt chickens. A giant owl, a crafty fox, an enormous snake, rabid raccoons, and a hawk, too! They're made of shadows and have malleable physical forms.

Alex is a bit of a scaredy cat and is afraid of most things. But more than anything else, she's afraid of being alone.

I first got the idea for Fowl Blade when a writer friend half-jokingly said I should write a story with chickens and swords

At the time I 1) had a flock of chickens and 2) was writing a giant epic sword and sorcery series. That series went nowhere, but Fowl Blade is going strong.

I imagine the people living in caves and within rock outcroppings and such, to get away from the large monsters roaming the sands. Small, confined places that also protect from the sun.
