One of the most influential books in the discipline, Keith Muckelroy’s Maritime archaeology published in 1978. A must-read for all aspiring underwater & maritime archaeologists. Muckelroy pushed the study of site formation processes for submerged sites to another level.

A recent acquisition at Mystic Seaport Museum. This little cutie is Asherah, an early research submersible commissioned in the 1960s by George Bass for shipwreck research off of Turkey. Built by Electric Boat. I had fun writing a sign for it after it came in! #maritimehistory #maritimearchaeology
