his lived role as Special Boy is pushed on him pretty much as a punishment, a curse even. the lack of choice he has in committing villainy (tho experiencing the crushing heartbreak of consequence) comes with a simultaneous lack of choice in heroism. interesting little guy. transgender AND rosacea

there's an area of study concerned with him as Abject, a servant in service of not just the king, but Ulster and Ireland as a whole, never accepted into society, partly bc he's tormented by episodes thru which we understand he embodies Both ireland's aspirations And fears. he's also Aware of this

the táin & other tales of cú chulainn are uncomfortable in the same way greek myths are but i must grapple with far greater and more terrible truths, such as "cú chulainn was born of a polyamorous trio, named sétanta before he was to be a dog, was small and beardless and had an actual boyfriend"

ok we didn't end up playing Ace Attorney but anka asked me to watch the special one piece episode "One Piece Fan Letter" and it was sooooo good! omg, it was so beautiful, i can't believe anime can still look good and feel powerful and go fucking hog wild. and i can't believe one piece made it happen

but BEFORE that i would ever so often be like "you really haven't played it? like ever?" because it's soooo ankacore (insane cast of guys with big jokes suddenly played seriously as a heart attack.) and indeed last night they were like "i think i'm ready to see my good friend phoenix wright again"
