as soon as you don't have pinyin transcription anymore, it gets real confusing real fast, and the tones can be very hard to even hear/perceive for ppl speaking western languages.

i never got more than 1-2 years into each language though, i didn't have the patience 🫠

oooh chinese and arabic are good ones!! with arabic, i feel like as soon as you've cracked the writing system, the rest is relatively easy? (it seems to operate a little on "dream logic" like dragon age elven with very flowery metaphors :3)

chinese, however, is HARD. i struggled so bad xD

the AI ads for Lidl and Aldi here in Germany are SO BAD because the WHOLE THING is AI generated and the translation from English to German is SO fcking bad, it's barely recognizable. today, i got a beer commercial that just said "bitte - bitte - bitte" (please) over and over. fckin creepy.

I use two methods: deodorant sticks like rexona (just rub on the places that usually chafe, dry skin glides instead of rubbing); getting silk stockings and cutting off the lace part at the top, and only wearing the lace part around my thighs.

Babygirl. I'm 35. I've been online for +20 years. I know a respectability discourse wave when i see one. The comments on that video are full of ppl playing holier than thou monopoly. I have no interest in HP, and thus I'm not "supporting" JKR or her vile actions. Go make drama somewhere else.

To make it clear to my moots: i am not a TERF (can't believe i have to say this lol), i haven't spent money on JKR in 15ish years, generally don't care about HP anymore, and don't interact with the HP fandom.

I'm reading a book that is very loosely inspired by two HP characters. That's it.

I also looked at the video that was linked & the comments are full of people griping over how fictional depictions of rape&slavery "glorify" these things - those are not people i want to be in the same room with as a Dead Dove writer lol

I got the book bc it's dark&brutal, not bc it's based on fanfic (which, if not pointed out repeatedly, i wouldn't have known)

I fail so see how this supports JKR. If i hadn't seen the Manacled/Dramione connection online, i wouldn't have noticed.

I don't know if you've read the book but it's very much its own thing and no longer fanfic. Distant inspiration isn't "support" 🤷‍♀️

Yup, i was dimly aware of that before i got into it. Absolutely don't care though, it's barely noticeable. Though tbf, I've had Manacled downloaded for ages and never got around to reading it. Maybe i will someday later. I hear it's more graphic, which I would enjoy.

Comes from the series Arrested Development, where the protag picks up a paper bag from the kitchen counter that has "Dead Dove, do not eat!" written on it, and he looks inside, dry heaves, closes his eyes clearly annoyed at himself: "i don't know what i expected"

Oh! It's a fanfic tag used to describe "what you see is what you get", meaning: when i say the story has non-con, it HAS unapologetic non-con. Also a catch-all for anything "problematic" & unsavory. So for example Elgarook or Elgarvellan is often deemed Dead Dove content.

C/A? - i mean. i was already head over heels in love with him for 10 years. Veilguard just made that love EVEN STRONGER. after Veilguard, i doubt there will ever be another character that could spark that intense, visceral reaction in me. like, i cried for DAYS after Trespasser AND after Veilguard.

i dunno, i hear the Ben Hassrath have some excellent indoctrination tools that don't even rely on blood magic, so the average Tevinter Citizen, even without slaves to spare, could convince people of the brilliance of our righteous Empire. could be like a tax break for the little man, you know?

i regard it as kind of a dead dove-y pairing because of what you said, and that's exactly the reason i like it xD there's some really good fcked up dreadrook out there - i don't think i personally could ever make it cute.. but maybe i'm too hung up on solavellan :D
