I’ve got a new collection out Oct 14 — It’s Dark in Here: 21 Weird Tales, and One Poem About Squirrels.

It’s packed with monsters on divine missions, neighborhood wereworms, small gods, haunted Halloween decorations, and yes — the ghost of Elvis.

Horror reviewers — want a review copy? Hit me up!

Got the proof copy of my new collection, "It's Dark in Here." From Dragon's Roost Press. The dedication, intro, and cover art still need to be added but I got to hold my book in my hands (until my daughter stole it) and that is incredibly cool!

Did I mention that I have a short story collection coming out in October? Because I do.
The folks at Dragon's Roost Press are publishing my horror collection:

"It's Dark in Here: 21 Weird Tales and 1 Poem About Squirrels."

If you all buy just 100 copies, I can get that tropical island I need.

Watching Brazil on my Office of Public Works Video Amplifier Screen. Really the only appropriate viewing medium. (Freshly found at the goodwill today)

"The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full-summer day; the flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green."

Happy Lottery day to you and yours.

This week's Story Hour double debut did not disappoint! Frank Oreto read us a poignant tale and a wickedly funny one, and Ayida Shonibar's retold Bengali folktale was all of the above. You can still watch! #Booksky @frankoreto.bsky.social @ayidashonibar.bsky.social www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS6L...

Head-and-shoulders color photo of writer Frank Oreto, a man with a trimmed, graying beard and mustache. He wears a dark gray fleece vest over a gray tee, accessorized with glasses on a chain and a small-brimmed straw hat accentuated with a black band and a magenta orchid. He sits in what looks to be a restaurant booth and wields chopsticks with an eager expression. Head-and-shoulders color photo of writer Ayida Shonibar, a woman with long black hair pulled back from her face and spilling over one shoulder. She wears a sleeveless black sweater; two small gold hoop earrings adorn her visible earlobe. She stands on what appears to be a park walkway, tree-filled wilderness behind her. With her face in three-quarters view, she looks directly into the camera with large brown eyes and a Mona Lisa smile.

It's always so impressive when an author can give such a solid sense of place whithout dwelling on it. Of course even a whiff of Victorian England brings a ton of associations in most readers.

I think I've always had a place in my heart for resurrectionist stories. The trappings are all so up my dark Victorian alley. #HorrorReads

Definitely an example of the narration making a great story even better.

The narration was phenomenal. And the story's visceral horror was perfectly balanced by the tragedy of the resurrectionist's wife.

My favorite cover from the BH&G Creative Cooking series. Filled with recipes to make strong man flinch. Such as "Cheese-Frosted Lunchmeat" and the near-Lovecraftian splendor of "Perfection Salad." Not to mention the haunting cover shot of that 4 pound glowing log of spit-roasted bologna.
