I do think the technology is able to make a single creative statement, which the dadaists failed to prove: that "art" can be made genuinely without meaning. With no subjectivity on behalf of creator or audience, draining the works it's derived from of their means of expression.

I mean there was some novelty to the van Gogh Pikachu stuff but if it were actually useful for creative work, we'd have seen some by now. At the start I was like "sounds useful for generating like a 32x32 grass texture for blender", but it doesn't seem to be any good for that either
