Kasuga can't turn back now. She HAS to prove a point

Nomoto cannot eat gyoza in one mouthful. Funnily enough, the character Manami played in Solitary Gourmet could! People were saying how she felt very Kasuga-like in her eating style, down to enjoying her gyoza with rice!

And that's it for Episode 3! It's really adorable watching the beginnings of the relationship blossom here. Ep 4 is where they break new ground, but you can see the hints here, too!

Nomoto watches as Kasuga heads back to her apartment to get ready for work.

Nomoto verbally processes what she agreed to just a moment ago. "Going out somewhere this weekend?"

....then realizes she has to get ready for work, too! "Crap! I'll be late!"

This plays out like a typical "first date" scenario, it's both cute and funny...

After both ladies try to speak simultaneously, Nomoto lets Kasuga go first. "Well, should we go somewhere this weekend?"

Kasuga immediately says it's to thank Nomoto for the meals. She also says, "Our schedules haven't met halfway lately so we haven't seen each other much."

Nomoto tries to react. She manages to let out a, "Sure."

Kasuga remembered

Kasuga eyes the noodles she's cooking up to enjoy some of those eggs. She was originally just going to take the pot and eat, but...

Flashback to the gyoza party. Nomoto is holding those little sauce plates and showing them to Kasuga. "The plates make you feel good, don't they?"

A moment later and Kasuga's eyeing this big bowl carefully. She will choose it for her meal presentation

Nomoto's idea paid off pretty instantly. She hasn't figured out Kasuga loves eggs, but it's convenient she decided to pack some of the eggs for her here.

Kasuga comes back home and sees a little insulated bag hanging off her door handle

Inside, Kasuga opens the bag and sees a container filled with marinated eggs alongside a note from Nomoto. The whole letter reads: I marinated these eggs along with the salmon. If you'd like some, enjoy this meal."

Kasuga's stomach tells her exactly what she needs to do NOW

"Did I even think about how Kasuga feels? I mean, in the first place, the only connection I have with Kasuga is that we happen to live in the same apartment building. Then, if we take away cooking from the equation, our relationship toward each other is...."

Nomoto prepping up some fish to be marinated in soy sauce

She is also boiling some eggs and packing everything into individual containers to marinate.

...to the point where she overdid it and now has a fuckton of food that she knows she can't finish at a reasonable leftover-based time

Kasuga isn't having a good time, either, huh?

A plate topped with kara-age is placed on the table shared by Kasuga and her fellow co-workers. Kasuga is about to grab some...

Suddenly, a hand pops up to take the plate away and start passing it down the group. "Here you go. Pass this around," they say as Kasuga quietly stares at the plate leaving her area as she realizes the way it's going to be passed means she's dead last.

And, sure enough, when the plate reaches her once more, there's only a couple of pieces left.

Gotta love stingy work parties (sarcasm)

Uh-oh...Nomoto's doubting herself. She thinks she might be a bother...oh nooooo

After talking some more with Sayama, at one point, Nomoto says she's having fun being able to pursue her hobby while she's with this person (Kasuga), and initially says they're having fun, too....but then she hesitates. "No...was she having fun, though?" - A note: She doesn't use any gendered talk through this whole thing. Even this line is more like she's saying "Were they having fun, though?"

Sayama figured Nomoto out REAL quick 🤣🤣🤣

(but oh wait, not yet! Not even Nomoto has figured out what she thinks of Kasuga as right now! Not even as a friend! Wow, Sayama's got amazing deduction skills~)

Nomoto seeks some advice from Sayama. "Well, let's say I've asked out someone for dinner three times..." She goes on to add that she has been declined three times as well.

Nomoto: Do you think I'm being such an inconvenience to the other party?

Sayama mulls it over for just a second and then comes out with this gem. "Ms. Nomoto, is this a love affair issues?"

And Nomoto's actually chatting with her this time! I think this was her first, true appearance. She does show up in Episode 1, but as a quick background character

Nomoto suddenly has conflicting thoughts and she needs to vent to someone. Thankfully, Sayama just returned to her desk! Nomoto turns her chair around and gets her attention. "Ms. Sayama." Sayama turns around and replies, "Yes?"

Scene change - the secret texting at work to plan future meals, heheh

...oh wait, WHAT? [record scratch] She can't make it?? 😱

Nomoto is sending a text to Kasuga about a possible meal since she saw some stuff on sale. "Kasuga, would you like to join me for dinner?"

Just a few seconds later, Nomoto gets her response.
Kasuga: I'm going to be late today for a drink at work (those work parties, by the way)

Kasuga: Unfortunately, I can't join you.

After taking her first sip, Kasuga actually has an eye-widening moment (very briefly; definitely better in motion)

Nomoto notices the glance and simply smiles/giggles in response because she's enjoying the food, of course!

Just seeing how much Nomoto is thoroughly enjoying the meal - that emotion she brought out after trying the gyoza and even chasing it down with beer (despite that sour incident with the jerk) - has actually made Kasuga reconsider a little!

Kasuga begins to stare as she watches Nomoto pick up her cup of beer

Nomoto takes a few gulps, savors the moment with a physical reaction, and then finally says, "So tasty!"

After confirming with Nomoto that it really did taste great, Nomoto continues to eat, but Kasuga suddenly puts her chopsticks down and grabs her own cup that has a little bit of beer in it - remember the toast

I do also remember the talk about an event held last year where people could pay to spend 2 minutes in a personal video call with Emi. It was being reminisced at the last fc stream so, I guess, as an "honorable mention" guess, maybe she's gonna announce another of those?

But that had advance notice

But, the way she said "if you're at home on [specific time]" makes me think of a release or a stream of sorts, y'know?, so I'm not getting my hopes up for S3

On the other hand, the previous 2 seasons were basic-announced months in advance...so it got 5th place in my guesses lol

1. That new song is released
2. New acting role announced (whether upcoming or something already filmed)
4. A special livestream (maybe IG? She usually announces FC streams differently)
5. Tsukutabe S3 initial announcement (c'mon I can HOPE!)
