25. My dad raised me on Tom Lehrer's music. We still sing along to him with or without the music. Some portion of my brain is made of this man's music. RIP to the brilliant mind who brought us the jello shot.

I've not stopped thinking about the new Jonni Peppers movie since it came out. It's been filling me with an urge to create and live and carve out what joy I can from the dark times we live in.

I've been learning this new skill called "art" lately. I wanted to make a thread to post some of this "art" so that I can get used to sharing things and face some classic anxieties! This is that thread.
From the researcher perspective that is true. Securing grants often means using whatever language appeals to the people with the funds. Unfortunately the trade is that the people with the funds get to say that's what we're doing, which allows them to turn it into pro-ai propaganda.
All of those science articles have used 'ai' to describe something completely different from chat gpt and other generative tools. It's always machine learning used on ethically-sourced databases. There's been a trend of science magazines conflating that with bro AI in an attempt to legitimize it.
Today's CD haul. I have a real soft spot for that Cop Shoot Cop record; it's just oozing with early 90s edgy industrial energy! Real 'stoned in a junkyard, smashing in a broken car with a baseball bat' vibes.
