For 99% of people, the only advice you need on writing your book is "actually write it."

Like, there's loads of advice I can give you on it once you've done that. But for the most part "stop fantasizing about it and put words on a damn page" is the correct answer.

I caught the prisoner’s stare and chuckled, “You’ll break soon, they always do.” The visual contact struck me with something warm and pure, sparking the antithesis of my soul. My laughter died, and I pulled my stare away from him, heat creeping up my neck.

The feeling disappeared as quickly as it came. But even after I’d shut my captee away in solitude, a muted tingle remained in my chest. One I couldn’t ignore, no matter how hard I tried.
