Poet, musician, photographer, pacifist, happier living in Colombia than I ever was in the USA all of my 71 years.

I live in Cauca, Colombia, in a village of 1800 in the Colombian Andes. It's the only place I've ever felt at home.
I saw him play 6 times in small clubs and one blues festival before he died. He had the greatest blues band I've ever heard, Bob Margolin and Luther Johnson on guitars, Pinetop Perkins on piano, Calvin Jones on bass, Willie Smith on drums, Paul Oscher on harmonica. His blues transformed my life.
The old Reichs Chancellery was also the site of Hitler's suicide in his bunker once his destruction of Germany was complete. Gaze upon your future, Amerika, if you do not destroy fascism first.
She is popular among those who also support Bukele in El Salvador and Milei in Argentina and Trump in the US. Normal people, not so much.
Some of our smaller birds: a Short-Crested Flycatcher, a Yellow Warbler, a Slate-Throated Redstart, and a Yellow-Throated Tyrannulet, all about 4.5 inches. Cauca is entering the rainy season, which affects bird ranges and behaviors. We should have some northern migrants arriving soon.
It is illegal for any department of the US government to spend money not appropriated by Congress, so this "donation" is a impeachable offense if accepted and spent. We already have private military forces, such as those owned by Eric Prince, but this donation crosses a serious line into fascism.
Two young Smooth-Billed Ani, a type of cuckoo. The male is on the left, female on the right, part of a large extended family group of ten birds. A pudgy Yellow-Faced Grassquit, a type of tanager. A Yellow-Backed Oriole in my patio mandarin tree.
The Democrats who keep losing will not save democracy. They obey the dictates of imperial capitalism which brought on our ruin.
A Bay-Headed Tanager, a Mountain Cacique, an Andean Mot-Mot, and a Squirrel Cuckoo.
An Andean Mot-mot (15 inches), a Squirrel Cuckoo (18 inches), and a Rufous-Tailed Hummingbird (3.5 inches)
We? Obama chose to do nothing about it and said we should just "move on." It was his cowardice and collusion with incipient fascism. I had nothing to do with his choice. Nor did you. We are not part of a democracy. We are the useful idiots in a fascist oligarchy.
Sunset in the Andes, Cauca, Colombia.
A Bare-faced Ibis, a Bay-headed Tanager, and a Scrub Tanager
A Tropical Parula, an unknown species, and a Smooth-billed Ani, a type of cuckoo.
A pair of Andean Mot-mots in a neighbor's yard. They are the mascot of Tunia, where I live, and a popular feature of murals and sculptures in Cauca.
When you live at 5,000 feet, you have a more intimate experience of clouds and sky.
It's called "pick and flop"--a classic move.
He's a fraud and a coward who will wreck democracy for his donors and his ambitions.
A Greater Kiskadee and a Yellow-chinned Spinetail this morning in Tunia, Cauca, my hometown in Colombia.

The Yellow-headed Caracara is a type of falcon, 20-24 inches in length. It feeds on easily caught prey and scavenges. It prefers high, clear perches and calls loudly to establish its presence. Colombia is the best place on earth for birdwatching.
The Green Jay is a social and vocal bird usually seen in groups moving through fruit tree groves. Here's one in our patio guayaba tree at breakfast time in Tunia, Cauca, our village of 1800 in the Colombian Andes.
Neighbors include cows, hummingbirds, woodpeckers and hawks.
A good day for butterflies in Tunia.
