The #Panama Canal is one of the world’s most important trade routes. We are very grateful to Panama for consistently deflagging ships of the Russian #shadow fleet, thereby helping to cut off Russia's revenues that fund its war of aggression against Ukraine. @aussenminister.diplo.de 2/2

A two-state solution remains our goal. This will require further major efforts. We believe the UN should play a decisive role in this. The UN Security Council, in particular, can create a framework for the way forward. @aussenminister.diplo.de (3/3)

Today, we Europeans are meeting in Paris with many partners, especially from the Arab world, with whom we have worked intensively in recent weeks to reach this agreement. This is a shared success on which we now have to build. @aussenminister.diplo.de (2/3)

This is a day of joy, the day of ceasefire, the day the people in #Gaza, who have suffered so terribly, can finally hope for sufficient aid. Germany stands ready to provide assistance; swift action is needed now. @aussenminister.diplo.de (1/3)

The Berlin Process is a catalyst for concrete initiatives. Because if we want these countries to become part of the EU, then this must happen in the foreseeable future. I am hopeful that we will have results soon. Belfast shows: Coming together is possible. @aussenminister.diplo.de (2/2)

In Belfast today we are talking with the Western Balkans about prospects for EU membership. There is great hope in these countries, this must not be an endless process without result. @aussenminister.diplo.de (1/2)

In the future, peace troops & a legal framework will be needed. Hamas must never pose any danger again. Today, I will discuss this with international partners in Paris. Of course, #Israel & #USA must be included in upcoming talks. @aussenminister.diplo.de (4/4)

The agreement shows: We live in a world in which mutual understanding is still possible. Humanitarian and medical aid must reach #Gaza as quick as possible now, the people there need a perspective for reconstruction & peace. The terrible suffering must end. @aussenminister.diplo.de (3/4)

All of this has been only possible thanks to the great commitment of President Trump. I also want to thank my counterparts, Sheikh Mohammed from Qatar, for his moderating role & 🇮🇱 Gidon Sa’ar, with whom I spoke on the phone this morning. @aussenminister.diplo.de (2/4)

This is a day of joy, it's a historic day. We are happy that the hostages, including Germans, can finally be released. 2 years after the October 7 massacre, our greatest wish can become reality. @aussenminister.diplo.de (1/4)

At the EU-CELAC summit in November, we want to deepen our ties & strengthen multilateralism, boost growth and tackle challenges such as organized crime and climate change. The 🇩🇪-🇨🇴 climate partnership already creates momentum for our cooperation. (2/2)

Foreign policy isn’t just diplomacy between ministries, it must be rooted in our societies. In Egypt, that includes the German Archeological Institute @dai-weltweit.bsky.social, the many German schools, and 500,000+ students learning German. 4/4

Egypt is our gateway to Africa and the Arab world. Many German companies know this - and we want to deepen economic ties. We also aim to cooperate more in vocational training and attract skilled Egyptian workers. 3/4

We spoke with Steve Witkoff about the “day after”. Gaza needs new local administration under the planned peace council. Egypt has laid groundwork. For international security forces, a UN Security Council resolution would be a sensible basis. 2/4

My Egyptian colleague Badr Abdelatty and I agree: the momentum around the peace plan for #Gaza must be seized. Quick results are needed to build trust - and first signs of hope must be followed by concrete next steps. @aussenminister.diplo.de 1/4

Israel’s #security is non-negotiable. The US plan ensures just that. At the same time, international law must be at the core of all solutions. That includes the #WestBank, which is integral to the two-state solution we are working towards.

#Hamas must act now. But #Israel also bears responsibility for a smooth transition between the stages of the #US peace plan. We need a ceasefire now - to free the hostages and to end the humanitarian catastrophe in #Gaza.

During my trip to the region, I urged my counterparts to use their influence on #Hamas. The big questions of the day after must not delay the implementation of steps towards peace.

That is why I’m holding talks in #Israel today and will continue my trip to #Egypt. This week is crucial: to free the hostages, get aid into Gaza, and achieve a ceasefire. Every effort is worth it. @aussenminister.diplo.de 5/5

In the coming days, it is key to implement phase one of the US peace plan for #Gaza. Regional states support this - a positive sign. But much work remains. We will do our part. @aussenminister.diplo.de 4/5
