President Trump says the U.S. will “immediately” resume testing nuclear weapons for the first time since the 1990s.

Nuclear expert and disarmament advocate Dr. Ira Helfand says the move will inflame geopolitical tension and that “our luck is going to run out at some point.”

While the tobacco lobby cries „overregulation“, health experts demand more action. „This law is a crucial step, but the industry keeps inventing new products“, says Kemp. „Fighting nicotine addiction remains an ongoing battle.“

„Luxembourg Leads the Way“ Kemp emphasizes: „With nicotine pouch regulations, we’re going further than other countries.“ The LSAP and ADR parties have filed additional amendments to tighten rules further. If passed, the law takes effect in December.
„The industry targets teens with sweet flavors and flashy packs“, warns Kemp. The Cancer Foundation backs the measures, calling pouches a „gateway to tobacco addiction“.
A national student survey revealed 21% of Luxembourg lycéens have tried nicotine pouches.
The law now:
• Bans sales to minors.
• Prohibits online sales to private individuals.
• Restricts advertising and mandates awareness campaigns.
Luxembourg goes beyond EU rules:

• Nicotine pouches limited to 0.048 ml nicotine per gram.
• Stimulants like caffeine, taurine, or CBD completely banned.
• Childproof packaging and food-grade hygiene standards mandatory.
The EU Commission warns: The market for heated tobacco is booming—sales up over 10% in five member states.
F. Kemp (CSV), rapporteur since September 2024, calls it a historic moment: „It’s complex and emotional, especially because it’s about protecting our youth.“

The law bans flavors (fruit, candy, mint, etc.) and eye-catching packaging for heated tobacco, e-cigarettes, and nicotine pouches („snus“).
Luxembourg Cracks Down on Nicotine

Today, Luxembourg’s Chamber of Deputies votes on Bill 8333, a landmark law to tighten regulations on nicotine products. 1st introduced in 2021 by then-Health Minister P.Lenert, the bill—after two years of debate and 17 years of groundwork—finally reaches a vote.
The 2024 Létard reform already granted AL excessive power—now, the sell-off of social housing to the highest bidder looms.
The „risky procedure“ could turn 3 million social housing units into speculative assets.
The CGT union accuses AL of „cheating the poorest“ and demands transparency. Arcadipane, who portrays himself as a „savior of social housing“, is under fire: „Who watches the watchmen?“ asks Le Canard Enchaîné.
Luxury at the Expense of the Poor

Despite boasting 20,000 employees and a €45 million surplus in 2023, AL claims „financial difficulties.“ Arcadipane justifies the OPA as a „rescue of social housing“, but critics see it as pure profit-maximization.
Arcadipane, who sent out 700 invitations to a lavish buffet at the Rencontres Nationales d’AL, stands accused of systematically denying social housing to low-income applicants. Preferential treatment is given to employees of major corporations—a violation of AL’s public service mandate.
His organization, which controls 1% of France’s rental housing stock, is planning a hostile takeover (OPA) of social housing—but not for those in need. Instead, the focus is on higher-income tenants.

Discrimination as a Business Model
Angel-Faced Fraudster

Luxury for the Rich, Discrimination for the Needy“

Bruno Arcadipane, president of the Action Logement (AL) housing association and a close ally of France’s HLM social housing sector, is facing criticism.

Fazit: Transparenz statt Euphemismen
