If we’ve got to have a dictator can it at least be a cat?

Your kind of person who would show up to resistance meeting during WWII & insist the only thing needed to make the Wehrmacht go away was replace current resistance leader… because they brought wrong brand of coffee to meeting.

Then you’d sell the location of the meeting to the Germans out of spite.

So yes, I can say w full authority that not having to deal with dumb ass assumptions from people like yourself about who & what I am can wait it’s fucking turn while we get rid of these NAZIS.

My rights are less important than restoring Roe & the Voting Rights act.

And so the fuck are yours.
gizmocats.bsky.social
First Karl assumes I have nothing to lose.

What absolute arrogance.

Less than 50 years ago everyone like myself could legally be sterilized against their will, or locked away and warehoused for life because we were barely considered human.

Fuck Republican BBQs and fuck you.

Republicans take rights away.

Democrats slowly claw rights back for people.

Sometimes over hundreds of years.

But all it takes is a few decades… or a few years to undo centuries of hard work.

Perfection is the enemy of progress.
gizmocats.bsky.social
That’s what new generations don’t respect.

All battles we already fought that they are throwing away because they take them for granted & think that because their particular issue isn’t at the forefront that year it’s ok to turn power back to the people we clawed those rights from to begin with.
gizmocats.bsky.social
I’m practical Karl.

People have stomped all over rights of people like myself for tens of thousand of years.

But my desire to deal w less bullshit from people day to day far less important than woman’s right to choose.

Or keeping Republicans from reinstating forced sterility on classes of people.

What I mean by “try it,” is vote to keep all incumbent Democrats in place & vote for ANY Democrat challenging a Republican.

& do it for min 16 years.

No bitching/ whining.

Just get Republicans out of office.

Long process, but if we had started it back in ‘96 we wouldn’t be where we are now.
gizmocats.bsky.social
You’ve never tried that.

Not once have Democratic voters taken a look at a candidate that wasn’t their primary pick & said “yaknow what,” better than the alternative.

Dukakis: ‘Nope, would rather have guy who ran Iran Contra, & funded by getting people in the inner cities hooked on crack.’

You absolute dumb POS no one is asking anyone to suck up to Republicans.

Making sure that you keep Dems in office while you work on getting the Republicans out ISN’T F-CKING SUCKING UP.

IT’S JUST CALLED MATH!!!
gizmocats.bsky.social
You dumb a— millenials and gen-zers just can’t get it through your thick skulls that anyone who thinks that we should approach the problem strategically isn’t engaged in collusion.

Your insistence on doing it all or not at all is why all the things you accuse me of supporting are happening.
gizmocats.bsky.social
Funny you mention Dukakis.

He puts on a helmet and attempts to turn some of the military vote to Democrats and Democrat voters hated military more than they were wary of Ronald Reagan’s CIA chief from getting in office.

How did THAT f-cking turn out?
gizmocats.bsky.social
Look, we’re way down the rabbit hole now, every single time they lose seats due to people being pissed off that they only got 1/2 of what they wanted, the next time around they’re only going to be able to deliver on 1/4.

Only way to stop death spiral is diminish Repub. influence on the discussion.
gizmocats.bsky.social
We need to win seats away from the Republicans to get anything done.

Period.

End statement.

When we actually LOSE Dem seats because constituents refuse to keep them in office…

WTF do you expect?

Can’t keep taking your own pieces off the board and then blaming them that your opponent is winning.
gizmocats.bsky.social
Well, since we are fighting a two front battle, one against the Republicans who caused all that crap you just mentioned, and one against the people who refuse to stop the Republicans from coming to power in the first place, we didn’t actually get to do it at all.

Give us a goddamn chance and see.
gizmocats.bsky.social
Well, if you want to go to the actual history of the New Deal, they won because everyone was starving to death.

Do you really want to let it get that bad?

Or perhaps keeping gradual change away from the fascists on the Right is an acceptable compromise…
gizmocats.bsky.social
The first “New Deal,” only passed because it had enough support.

We need to focus on flipping the status quo of who is in power before we try to flip the status quo of what they vote for.
gizmocats.bsky.social
I still think it needs to be the goal, because it focuses base on the achievable rather than what is left to be done.

If the Allies had tried to launch D-day without tens of thousands of individual resistance missions & prior battles…

It would have failed miserably and Europe would still be NAZI.
gizmocats.bsky.social
Johnny is within his rights to do that, but he’s just proving my point by doing so.

People like him don’t want to acknowledge reality when it doesn’t fit their preconceived notion that everything is someone else’s fault.

Dems have to look at our own internal bickering first.

Otherwise Repugs win.

Democratic voters are like Philadelphia sports teams.

They get a roster that gets them all the way to the finals, but if they don’t win the Super Bowl, Stanley Cup or World Series they trade/ fire everyone & start all over from scratch.

It’s not sustainable model.

& it benefits Republicans.
gizmocats.bsky.social
I don’t “think. Unlike many people who have become paralyzed & will ONLY express themselves online, ACTUALLY TALK TO MY CO-WORKERS.

I’m not speculating here.

It’s what’s 100% going on.

“I know Trump is crazy, but I’m just not sure I trust Hillary.”

Over & over & over from so many people.

1/2
gizmocats.bsky.social
Yes, because he moved the dial forward.

The fact that you immediately focus on his imperfections is the problem.

Without the imperfection of “Don’t ask don’t tell,” a conversation wouldn’t have even been started and LGBTQ service members would still be being lynched.

It’s about taking the wins.
gizmocats.bsky.social
They aren’t winning ‘cause younger voters would rather see world burn than vote for politicians who aren’t perfect.

You have no Earthly concept of abject JOY generation X had when Bill Clinton was elected because of BS we had to deal with from Reagan and Bush.

That’s why we still have perspective.
gizmocats.bsky.social
You seriously think for one f-cking second we get someone like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez into office without a John Lewis, Shirley Chisholm, or a Jesse Jackson first?
gizmocats.bsky.social
Sure, better politicians “earn more votes,” but when Fascism is alternative dumb f-cks like yourself need to learn ALL DEMOCRATS ARE BETTER POLITICIANS THAN THEIR REPUBLICAN CHALLENGERS.

The Republican base has figured this math out for their goals, what the absolute f-ck is wrong with liberals?
