Having watched tax preparation software evolve over the last 25 years, frankly, this should be the *default* for anyone with a T-slip only return.

These days, 90%+ of returns are "check your address, hit "download from CRA," hit "submit""

I'm not overly impressed with the timeline, but it's a solid, positive, program

My only concern with it is a vague logistical question around making sure the CRA has the right addresses/bank accounts, and I can see that being reasonably offloaded to banks & employers.

The Naval Memorial Museum in Kobe is well, well, well worth the visit

It's a simple thing, really. Just walls of photos. One for each ship lost at sea.

The vast majority are from 1941 to 1945.

The dates alone tell the story.

It's not a remotely practical counter historical.

But the image of Admiral Yamamoto on the radio to the BEF doing "On your left" with his elite pilots and an 18" gun super-battleship has a definite charm.

Instead of December 7, 1941, being the day the IJN and Kido Butai make history, it's the end of May 1940.

Of course, pulling this off would not only be a logistical miracle but would need to be negotiated months in advance.

The only way the IJN gets to Dunkirk, is using RN bases and the Suez

The idea was that Japan got out of WW2 in better shape by deciding they owed England for guarding their flank in the Russo Japanese war.

I described it as them "pulling the elves at Helms Deep" (yes, I know this wasn't in the books)

There is an unexpected call on the radio, requesting permission to enter the channel to provide air and fire support to the evacuation.

"An alliance once existed between our nations. We come to honor that allegiance."

It's the IJN carrier fleet, with enough extra planes to turn the tide.

There was a bar conversation the other night that has created an annoying story scrap in my head.

May 27, 1940. The British Expeditionary Force is being evacuated under fire. The little ships are only just beginning to move.
The British command is still expecting to save 5% or less of the BEF

I was really planning to wear slacks today and look somewhat professional for the train and our arrival in Kobe.

And then I saw Kobe's weather

At 31C, anything but shorts and a t-shirt requires both payment in advance and on duty medical staff.
