One thing I thought of starting was making sketches for my polls, rather than just using generic images. It helps with warming up to draw the characters, as well as just for drawing in general. There would of course be a different drawing each time a character is reintroduced :)

Hudson’s gaze was firmly on the bulldozer, an eyebrow cocked. “Tell you what.” He turned around to face Lexington. “Since I’m more than able to lift the machine without trying much, how about I go and deadlift it for you? You know, to ease your mind a bit.”

“Oh wow, you could do that?”

“Aye, I can manage this ol’ thing.” Hudson stepped over to the vehicle, rubbing his hands together before letting out a breath. “And if I can’t, well, then I will at some point. I won’t let something like this beat me.”

Lexington waited with bated breath as the other man took his place like before, only this time not immediately grabbing the bulldozer. Instead he bent forward, inadvertently showing off his ample rear, before sliding his fingers under the treads. There wasn’t a whole lot for his mentor to grab onto, which he knew from his strained attempt, but he also had the idea that bigger gargoyle wouldn’t need much in the way of handholds to make magic happen. Dedication had given the old-timer a physique to drool over, one that could hoist that thing – or most things, for that matter – with ease.

Knees bent as low as they needed to be, Hudson took several deep breaths before lifting the construction equipment into the air, standing straight up as the blade of the bulldozer rested at an angle. He held it there for a few, good moments before carefully placing it back down on the ground, ending up back in the position he started in. Only a couple seconds were needed before he started anew.

Lexington watched, amazed at the sight of man older than him playing with heavy equipment like it was a children’s toy. His mentor blasted out reps like it barely affected him, solidly shrugging off the need to stop as it would only slow him down. The elder gargoyle was mechanical in his approach, retracing the same stances repeatedly to great effect, sweat trickling down musculature pumped from the exercise.
