Visiting Paperback on a trip to Melbourne is as important as going for coffee in my mind.

General Knowledge crossword clue in The Age today.

"Who is the pessimistic farmer in John O'Brien's 1919 bush poem who constantly fears ruin?"

That miserable prick Hanrahan was a longer answer than they required.

Gayle Kennedy’s Me, Antman and Fleabag is an astonishing collection of short stories. Told with deceptively dry wit the stories have you laughing and then grab you by the shoulders and ask,”do you see what you’re chuckling at?”, the stories with the most impact don’t let you off with a laugh.

If the alternation continues then I think Can Xue is more likely next year.

True neutral with a lean towards lawful neutral at the moment because one of the library ebook apps I'm currently using forgets my place.

"Why land a punch when you can land a punchline? Or, even better, a dad joke..."

Ouch.

“It had turned into a nice spring morning: bright and warm on the sunny side of the street, but in the shade there was a head cold waiting for anyone who thought it was an early summer and went out hatless.”

Leonard and Hungry Paul - Rónán Hession.

I’ve waited far too long to read this gem.

Pardalotes are known for that. Anything that resembles a small tunnel and they’re in.

We had planned to put a new succulent in the pot. Have abandoned that plan for the moment.

Not surprised. Does remind me of the time our cat was sleeping on the couch and my partner decided to listen to medieval choral music. At the moment the soprano hit a loud sustained high note the cat's head popped with a look that said "what the fuck is that?" and stormed out of the room.

Apologies for the image being a little shaky. This is one of a pair of Striated Pardalotes which are nesting in the water well of a hanging basket on the outside of our verandah.
Image showing a Striated Pardalote exiting the water well of a hanging pot. The Pardalote is mainly a buff colour with a white and yellow streak above its eye, a black and white streaked crown, a yellow chin, and a small faint red patch adjacent to its leg. They are usually around 95 to 115 millimetres in size.

An out of focus kumquat tree is in the background.
