That Borei would be conducting its first repair and upgrade cycle. Being part of the first three that was born out of recycled Akula-class SSN parts.

Yuri Dolgorukiy has already started its repair and upgrade cycle a year or two prior.

They could have waited for Tor-MF, but delays in demonstrating its functions when baked into a ship and not attached like an appendage like Tor-M2KM, might have pushed them for Shtil-1 instead.
grangere04117.bsky.social
In my opinion, this delay probably sealed any hope of Tor, Kinzhal or related systems being retained in the upgrades for Udaloys.

When Marshal Shaposhnikov was being reworked, it only got a new radar from Ratep contracted by MNIIRE Altair.

Vinogradov went the other route and went for Shtil-1.

RF Navy Northern Fleet unidentified Akula-class nuclear-powered sub (likely "Gepard") departed port on 19 June and remains underway through today.

Previous underway periods for "Gepard" in 2025: 23 February-7 March (13 days); 29 March-15 April (18 days); 20-27 April (8 days); 14-27 May (14 days).

With Ulysses Bay now clear of civilian leisure traffic and the area now reverted back to MOD control, we would see more activities in the area regarding movement of VMF assets.

Also, Ulysses Bay is where the dedicated pier for the Mistrals would have been located. Now its sitting unfinished.

Although for the auxiliaries it was a temporary shift in location, for the corvettes, it might have been a permanent move as back in March-April, the admin at Vladivostok and the RU Ministry of Transport imposed a restriction on small vessels leaving in and out of Ulysses Bay.

[1/4] At least five large RF Navy Pacific Fleet auxiliary vessels have transferred from Bukhta Uliss to Bukhta Zolotoy Rog this week: Baklazhan-class tug "Fotiy Krylov", Dubna-class oiler "Pechenga", Emba-class cable ship "Kem", Neftegaz-class tug "Kalar", and an unidentified Altay-class oiler.

Russian Navy Submarine Fleet status as of August 2025

There are a lot of diesel sub movements and the curious case of the majority of the RU Pacific Fleet's Borei-A SSBN not being present in July 2025.

Some subs would be moved to inactive due to no activity for ~3 years.

🔎🇷🇺Admiral Nakhimov
As expected, Admiral Nakhimov is carrying out builder's sea trials in the Dvinsky Bay

Caveats apply given the low resolution SAR imagery but she appears to be operating ~50km NW of her berth in Severodvinsk

At Yantar shipyard today, they laid down the fifth member of the Project 11711-class landing ship and the third of the improved Project 11711 class.

Project 22010-class oceanographic research vessel Almaz at Yantar Shipyard, Kaliningrad.

She's the second ship of a ship class where Yantar is a member of. Her deployment would mirror her sister in that she would be supporting activities of the Main Directorate for Deep Sea Research (GUGI).
grangere04117.bsky.social
With her ship class as any indication, she would be a member of the ever-growing fleet of GUGI's surface vessels.

Project 22011-class Oceanographic Research Vessel "Vice-Admiral Burilichev" at Vyborg Shipyard after launching.

This is an improved version of Yantar (Project 22010) and is named after Vice Admiral Alexei Burilichev, head of GUGI from 2005-2020.

To be fair, that is how museum projects go in Russia.

K-3 was languishing for so long before works were done and it had a few years of radioactive detox by just sitting there with a reactor plug.
grangere04117.bsky.social
That's going to put a lot of strain on Zvezdochka knowing how full they are at the moment with Akulas, one Borei, one or two Delta IVs, a bunch of boats from GUGI.
