Thank you! I had the idea to deviate from the book description (seaweed niello) to scales because I felt it would convey the idea of a triton-like king better. Basically tried to make him look like his heraldry haha!

Commission done!
I had a lot of fun with this one since I got to work on a few of my weaknesses: vegetation and decisive and efficient textured brushwork. I'm a huge fan of impressionism so having the chance to do some implied detail and colorful nature was really great for me.

omg I really like the reinforced strap for the breastplate and gorget and the locking system too. did you base it on a real thing or did you come up with it yourself? I always thought leather straps are a bit of a weak point and wanted something more resistant. I'll borrow the idea if you allow it.
